Nice forum name, I should have claimed that one. I’m still paying the price for learning the hard way that the game would be full contact. (and charging/hitting from behind would not be called.)

I personally enjoyed the game but I felt that the ref let things get out of hand. It was hard to know exactly what the rules were while playing and I was very surprised when the hit from behind that Ryan took wasn’t met with a game misconduct. Rather than tell the teams he was going to let the play “flow” he should have said play by the rules or go home. The flow would have been much better without the unnecessary roughness, and we would not have been left with an end of tournament scrap.
I think the biggest surprise to me is that a player can be banned from his home rink and yet enter tournaments in neighboring cities. The player in question spent the entire weekend looking for trouble and, I suspect, is a horrible influence on his young team mates. I spoke to several players on the opposing team and they didn’t seem very happy with the conduct of their own team. As a team we were very focussed on not retaliating and trying, as best as possible, to stick to the task at hand, which was winning the game.
Ironically, I think the ref letting the game get out of hand made us a stronger team as it was much easier to shutdown the opposing teams attempts to gain our zone. I think they only managed 10 shots all night.Given the endless provocation, I think we were quite restrained.
Yeah I knew it was Ricky of Sunnyside Trailer Park. He put on quite a show and I hope he has some gas left in the tank for tomorrow.
