Ryan,If you’re feeling like a burn-out is coming skip fixing the gallery for now. It’s better not to burn out – the site is in pretty good shape.
I concur. Congratulations to Kieth. That is quite an accomplishment. Kieth was on my son Paul’s Easton Cup team and I enjoyed chatting with him after the tournament. He sure stands out in a hockey game with his freestyle boarder knee pads.
I’ve watched people try to hunt stuff down on the site and what they seem to not get is the “forum” concept. It doesn’t even occur to them to look there for information and right now the bulk of the info is in various posts. You’ve been good about providing links on the front page to pertinent topics but maybe you could create a really really obvious way to link stuff on the home page:
” YO, DUMB-ASS IMPORTANT BRANDING SHIT IS HERE”
or maybe a bit more subtle than that. Hans asked me where the photos of the shooting gallery were and and I was surprised how hard it was for him to navigate around the site. I suppose you can only dumb it down so much. Maybe what you could do is sticky important info in the relevant forum and then possibly lock it down so it doesn’t get cluttered with too much yapping. When the info is no longer germane you could un-sticky it and let it slide into oblivion. I’ve seen that done on many forums before.

Jenel has full permission to use my photos – I took them with here use in mind but I should take care of any releases that would be needed. Ryan I’ll burn a couple of discs of the originals so you can choose cropping and resoulution. Release laws/regs might be different in New Zealand,in the US and I don’t need a release for the large group photos, just the pictures with small numbers of kids. I can print up some releases and ask for signatures on Thursday. Any parents who don’t want their kids pic used I’ll just pull them. I have enough shots that it shouldn’t be a problem.
Maybe our resident law student Chris would weigh in in this. Chris, any idea what’s required here in New Zealand regarding photo releases of minors. Any input would be appreciated.
I like the guest book feature. It functions as a place where people can leave testimonials and you can always edit out the malignant minority.
The Juniors are in Gore for the day and won’t be back in time to play. Would you like me to email the Ducks SNC?
