I just noticed that that warning message comes up even when you’re just trying to edit your profile! I wasn’t aware of that.

I’ve edited to say that you can edit your profile no problem now.

Pooze, I forgot about this. It must have got forgotten about in the heap of crap I had to do on changing hosts. It’s fixed now.

This is cool Ryan. Would this be a good place for me to post photos? (new thread)

Yep, definitely. In fact you were what made me think of making this forum <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

The upload function for the main gallery is still not working properly, plus the forum is WAY more popular, so your photos are likely to get lots of attention here. I’ll try and figure out a way to upload photos directly here rather than simply linking to them eventually, but last time I tried to modify the forum to do that I kept breaking the software <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” /> I know lots more about programming now though so might be able to do it now.

I’m also investigating the possibility of hosting a web forum for the New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation on here as well.

The Ice Blacks have a forum, but it’s shit, has almost no users and they have a rude message saying you have to post something about who you are or they’ll label you as spam and make your email address public – which incidentally I’m fairly sure is in direct violation of the TOS displayed on registering with their forum. Sheesh! Plus it’s ugly.

The NZIHF web admin has passed on info to the powers that be at the NZIHF asking for permission to ad a link in their main menu to a new forum (within our current one) which I’ll create for them. This way we might get some posters from other parts of the country participating.

Ryan,

PS: If I had to pass every change I do on here through the DIHA this would be a seriously shit website so thankfully they’re not as anal as the NZIHF!

Don’t look at the page source please :oops: The code is shitty as I just slapped it in there, it works though.

Lemme know if it looks wonky in other browsers – I’ve only checked it in Firefox2.0 and …

shit, just checked it in IE7 and it’s a bit wonky. I’ll fix that though.

EDIT: fixed IE7 bug

[b:2syec9qk]Before answering your questions:[/b:2syec9qk]
I’m considering adding a new forum, which will allow embedding of Youtube videos, that way instead of the current videos pages at [url:2syec9qk]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/videos/[/url:2syec9qk], there’ll be a forum topic with user submitted videos. Users could also add polls to their topics to rate the videos from 1-10 etc. etc. There’s a MOD I found which lets you embed the videos by just typing .

I can’t be assed updating the current videos page, so I thought this might work a little better. Photos, other videos etc. could also be linked to as well. So it would be a media forum I spose. I haven’t got a title for it yet.

It’s definitely possible, I’ll have a sniff round the code and try and track down how to do it.

"Kyle":2syec9qk wrote:
[/quote:2syec9qk]And the subject line when you’re posting doesn’t seem to do anything except when it’s the first post on a topic.

Doesn’t it show up as a new subject in your post? I think I saw Phil do it a while back. I’ve added a subject to this post saying “testing the subject thingy”.

"Kyle":2syec9qk wrote:
On forums where it lists your name on the left. It would make sense to me if that linked through to your profile. And the Posts count below it, that should link through to that feature that lists every post you’ve made. Currently to get to those two things you have to go through the memberlist.[/quote:2syec9qk]

Um, that’s probably possible too. I think that code may be buried a little deeper than I’d like to be hunting, but I’ll see what I can do.

"Kyle":2syec9qk wrote:
What I’d really like though would be a link when you go into a forum for each topic that went to the last post on that topic. Or the first post since the last time you went to that topic. Going to the last page and then scrolling to the end… blah.[/quote:2syec9qk]

Yeah, that’s pissing me off too. I definitely plan to get on to that at some stage too.

Definitely not bored, and definitely not short on things to do! In fact I’m over worked to the hilt right now, but I’ll probably stop doing some mega important things (like doing my PhD!) and fiddle with the forum software instead <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

9:30pm I think.

When Kyle checked last time, the earliest booking available at the Caledonian gym was 9:00pm on Wednesday.

[b:1k9je1tj]Update 3:[/b:1k9je1tj]
[list:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]Bode, Hans and myself cleared a bunch of crap from the area the shooting gallery will be in today.[/*:m:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]The figure skaters should have moved their stuff tonight or will be doing so tomorrow.[/*:m:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]Hans (with some help from me) welded up a whole bunch of caging to completely block off the cooling tower from pucks.[/*:m:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]We’re currently looking at installing some very professional looking dasher boards although we don’t have enough to go the whole way around the rink so they wont quite reach around the end we’ll be shooting from.[/*:m:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]The netting should have arrived tonight and it’ll be waiting to be tacked up.[/*:m:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]I tried getting hold of Andre van Leeweun today to ask him if he’d mind putting down some paint on to the concrete to make it look a little more professional and hopefully make the puck slide better.[/*:m:1k9je1tj]
[*:1k9je1tj]I need to get hold of our electrical person (and get more lights) to install some new lighting[/*:m:1k9je1tj][/list:u:1k9je1tj]

So, the shooting gallery is well on track to being completed <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

On a side note, Bode contacted Marty Yewchuk (who I met a few years back) who runs a shooting gallery in Canada ([url:1k9je1tj]http://www.goalieshop.com/goaliedevelopment.htm[/url:1k9je1tj]).
He said the synthetic ice is a big no no and recommended training on inline skates with a Sport Court surface or any other plastic tiled inline hockey style surface. The shooting gallery he runs uses real ice.

We need to get Kyle to book it in. Unfortunately I think we’re too late to get it booked in for tonight <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” />
We’ll have to see what times are available now, although we’ll probably have to move to 9pm on Wednesday which is getting quite late.

The shooting gallery is also looking like being built in the next few days so that will possibly take over some of the need for the inline hockey practice. But we’ll wait and see. There’ll be a lot of hockey on, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and another late night on Wednesday might be a bit much for me. Particularly with them being late nights.

If anyone feels like volunteering to run it then let me know as I’m more than happy to pass the job on to someone else.
