That’s impossible. The SIHL game will be atleast 60 mins, plus grooms between each period, warm up, hand shake etc. There’s a definite scheduling issue there.

EDIT: the Johnnies game is actually at 6:30pm. But that’s still not enough time to fit in the SIHL game.

Just a random thought, but would it be difficult to imbed an IRC window into the website/forum?[/quote:2kc9jskt]

Um (showing my ignorance here), what is an “IRC window”?

    Ryan,

EDIT: I remember now, Internet Relay Chat I think
    EDIT 2: Yep, that’s it.

Yep, it’s definitely possible, but I never thought it would be particularly useful. Wouldn’t using MSN be more sensible? I think we have MSN buttons available to use if we want – if not it’s definitely possible to add them..

EDIT 3: yep, we do have MSN buttons.

Can you add the DIHL game clashes in there too? Plus the game times for those tournaments so we can keep a track of our schedule.

I’d edit your post myself but I stupidly forgot to made myself a moderator and can’t :?

Google is pretty good, I agree but you might want to chuck it in an Iframe or something to make it fit with the site.[/quote:1eriby18]

Yep, that’s what I had in mind. The other option is to literally stick the page into the site as an include, the code wont validate for shit, but it shouldn’t break any browsers that I’m aware of and it’ll solve a few issues which iframes tend to have – vertical scroll bars, SEO issues etc.

What are you looking for the calendar to do?[/quote:tkbyar2u]

Something which any idiot can use. Something which you can’t screw up even if you try.

Basically I’d like the people who make schedules to use the website before bothering to do it any other way. The schedules coming out of the SIHL are nightmarish, so if they could enter the data directly into the site and have it spit out a printable calendar that’s about all I really need. It’d also show them straight away what they’re clashing with as I suspect at the moment they have a whole bunch of scraps of paper with different times etc. on it, centralising things would make things a lot smoother for them I think.

But yeah, all those things you mentioned would be nice too.
I can always hash one out manually and update it myself, but I’m trying to avoid that. I wouldn’t mind it too much, but I know for certain that there’ll be a hideous delay between when the original schedule is made and when I receive it, then there’ll be a delay until I can (a) figure out what the heck the schedule means as it’s bound to be riddled with errors and (b) be bothered doing it.

I can do Queenstown to Dunedin in 2 hours 15 min[/quote:1ww22r6f]

I like having a drivers license <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” /> It’s ~300 km, so you’d need to be doing an [b:1ww22r6f]average[/b:1ww22r6f] of ~133 kph to do it that quick!

Make one Ryan, surely you php is up to that?[/quote:2bfz8rbw]

Not really, you totally lost me with that PHPBB stuff you were doing the other day.

There is an open source calendar program but it’s pretty shitty, the Google one is much nicer. I might take another look at the shitty open source one though as I was hoping you would all say something like “wow, that Google one is really awesome!”, but no. So I’ll have another fiddle with it and see what I can come up with.

Yeah, I think this was sorted out a while back by Phil, but then Joyce got our teams round the wrong way and we ended up on the wrong schedule hence the clashes.

You can do Queenstown to Dunedin in three hours if you drive flat out at 105 kph the whole way. So six hours should be plenty of time.

We badly need something like this as the schedules given by the SIHL are appalling to say the least. And the DIHA doesn’t seem to have any schedule!

I’m having trouble finding a suitable piece of calendar software for the website so I’m thinking of using a Google Calendar instead. The calendar would be included as part of a regular page on the site.

    Here is an example:
    [url:13sd5h11]http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=webadmin%40dunedinicehockey.co.nz&title=Dunedin%20Ice%20Hockey%20Association%20Calendar&chrome=NONE&height=557[/url:13sd5h11]

Let me know if you think this is a good idea or not. I generally avoid using external sites for stuff like this, but the Google system is fairly good.

They sell electronic goalies in Walmart in Canada. It’s attached to a remote and a blow up doll flops from side to side in the goal when you click the button. Cost about $300 I think.

    Kinda like this thing: [url:h7iwslyk]http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0006UCFAC[/url:h7iwslyk]

I used the word “grading” to signify which “grade” you participate in, it was intentional. But yeah, I see what you mean.

I’m fairly sure I’m missing some players there, I’m just not sure who.

Phil and Zanzee were intending to play in ALL of the games this season. However there was a screwup somewhere along the line and someone thought that Dg was the Ducks, whereas they were Db which everyone thought was the Beasts. So the Beasts were sposed to be playing last time and the Ducks next time. Phil was rather confused when we picked him up from the airport on Sunday morning and asked if he was intending to play that day.
