Something I forgot to mention which some may find useful … you can now access an RSS feed of the forum <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

In Firefox, just click the little orange icon thingy on the right hand side of the address bar. I’m not sure about other browsers, but I’m assuming there will be a small orange RSS icon/button somewhere.

With RSS feeds you can have the latest news sent directly to your web browser, usually into a sub-folder inside your bookmarks folder.

Perhaps I should post some Shakespeare to keep the linguistics gestapo at bay?

It never ceases to amaze me how excited you guys get over a discussion about rules! Most of these don’t have any effect in yer average game anyway.

I’m not even sure how’d you’d regulate a rule like that anyway. You can’t just put somebody in the box for icing the puck obviously, and deciding whether someone is doing it to delay the game is a bit arbitrary and open to interpretation.

Yeah that was Mike, but that will likely be some time away.

Anyone feel like working out what exactly needs to be on the stats pages? I made some mock up pages for Mike a while back, but I’m not really into this type of thing. I’d rather have someone who knows what should be on each page to draw something up – even something in excel or word would do, just so long as it shows what should be on each page. Then I can turn those into proper web pages so that Mike knows exactly what he needs to output to the pages.

Just view the source code for the page, it’s still there, I’ve just hidden it inside HTML comment tags.

ROTFLMAO. I didn’t think anyone would notice that had dissapeared! I don’t like seeing how much time I waste working on this thing, if I did, we’d have no site!

An interesting fact though, is that 50% of those are from New Zealand. So it’s not just that we’re getting random people clicking on us via Google or anything like that, I think a lot of those are real people wanting to know about hockey in New Zealand. That’s why I said in the main forum recently that I think we’re probably the busiest hockey site in the country.

The forum does tend to throw the number of unique visitors a bit out of wack in comparison to non-forumed sites though. Users tend to re-visit forum sites a lot more than ordinary sites just to see if there’s a new post, and if their IP has changed for whatever reason in between times, they’ll show up as another user.

[u:26efckw0]Random piece of advertising information: [/u:26efckw0]in general (this isn’t accurate by any means) you can make about 0.5c per unique visitor to a site via Google Adwords. Because forums tend to throw things out of wack that makes it about 0.2c per unique visitor. Since we have 1800 per month, we should (in theory) be able to make about 360c/month = $43/year from Google Adwords advertising. Kind of pitiful really, but I thought an interesting calculation nonetheless. Perhaps if that number could be driven up towards $300-$400 or so I might consider it.

Ohhh, and … if you use Adult Friendfinder advertisements you can drive that up by about 300%. But that does of course require you to have advertisements for porn sites on your own site <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

Michael was discussing with Stefan after the game whether or not intentional icing in the last couple of minutes could be called ‘delay of game’. I can’t find it in the case book, but perhaps Michael will find the reference.[/quote:3rdb9i7p]

[b:3rdb9i7p]My highly uneducated guess on the situation:[/b:3rdb9i7p]
I don’t think the rules/casebooks take running-time games into account – although I could be entirely wrong. Intentional icing would only be a problem in running time games so I’m not sure you’re going to find a rule on this in there. If I’m right, then we probably need to add another rule into the DIHA Rule Book to cover stuff like this.

That sounds awesome <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” /> I’m happy to upload anything you send me to the site. The videos/photos gallery has thrown a hissy fit at the moment, but hopefully I’ll be able to fix that.

The more videos the better <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” /> We’ve got heaps of space on here too, so don’t worry about how big they are – albeit make sure they’re well compressed first.

    Ryan,

PS: I’ll PM details on how to get files to me

Changing for forum over seems to have broken the photos/videos gallery <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” /> They both used the same login information hence the problem <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” />

I’ll see if I can fix it.

    Forum software transfer complete <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

Everything seems to be running okay. Although Chris is winging about not having moderator powers, I’m not quite sure what the problem is there as it should be working.

We haven’t had any spam and have had two new users sign up so the registration process seems to be working too. I’ve edited every single god damned [youtube] tag now so they’re all working. Hopefully people don’t get too confused with having to add the width and height, but I’m not sure how to do it any other way.

You don’t need to follow Kyle’s advice as I’ve fixed it for everyone. Apart from Kyle who I suspect has just messed his time up.
