MemberMy inbox has been overflowing with requests for a change of moderators … okay, slight exaggeration (overflowing = 7 requests) … but anyhows, in an effort to overcome the growing tide of discomfort from the masses, I’ve ditched Chris and Matt A as moderators – sorry guys – and we now have Kyle and Joe as global moderators and me as administrator. So they can edit, delete, move and pretty much do what they want to whatever post they feel like messing with including mine. I’ve also activated a moderation log function so I can track what changes are done including my own. So if anyone has issues with what any of us do to their posts I can go back and check now whereas before the edits were permanent.

MemberI’m not sure, but I think some of you may have misinterpreted my post above. I wasn’t suggesting that logo in the pic above at all. I was just referring to the colour scheme.
Copying a logo would be awful anyway, totally unoriginal and illegal to boot.
And I’m erring towards Grahams (leftright) opinion on having a more abstract logo. But I think that could be accomplished with a penguin theme too. Penguins don’t necessarily have to be cartoonish, we could have a sophisticated looking abstract image which represents a penguin.

MemberResults for the latest SIHL rounds including the premier grade now available http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/sihl/%5B/url:kz9q8e8z%5D.
Another set of solid performances by the Dunedin teams.
[i:kz9q8e8z]Off-topic:[/i:kz9q8e8z] Does anyone know if the ‘premier grade’ is actually called the ‘premier grade’ anymore? Or is it the ‘senior checking’ grade? The results I get sent and the schedule says ‘senior checking’ so I thought maybe there’d been a name change.

[/quote:37kviexa]Do you mean these ones?
If we stay as the penguins then I think that’s a really good option. In particular they represent Dunedin really well as they fit in with the whole yellow eyed penguin theme. If we’re not the penguins though I wouldn’t like those colours at all.

MemberStefan, was this what you were talking about?
http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/forum/index.php?topic=235.0%5B/url:1xmhyrkn%5D
I posted that quite a while back I think, but it was a question by me about the way the league was run, not a question of how you were running your team. And I figured it out and gave an explanation half way through typing it, plus Kyle confirmed it anyway that it was infact a ‘new’ team, not the existing team from last season, you just happened to have many of the same players and the same team name – purely a technicality.[b:1xmhyrkn]Off-topic: [/b:1xmhyrkn]the reason for allowing ‘existing teams’ to keep their roster and pick from the draft pool is so that teams can keep their same team rosters season after season without fear of having players pinched from their team due to annoying organisers. Basically if your team improves, good on you, you aren’t going to get punished for it which tended to happen under the old scheme. There was no motivation to improve your team, because if you did, you would have just had players taken from you. This is similar to the system used in the Christchurch SNC, although their system is a lot stricter, ours is setup with a lot more power placed in the hands of the organisers – sort of half way between the old DIHL and the ChCh SNC system.

MemberWhat are the gradings for the A-grade teams now Kyle? Last I spoke to you the other teams were way down and could easily have recruited some 10’s either as permanent recruits or casuals no problems at all without going over their grading limit.

MemberStefan now has access in here, set it up a minute ago.
I don’t think there is any issue with your team being supposedly stacked at all, people are just winging coz they don’t know the rules. Anyone else could have formed a decent team if they wanted, they’re just too fat and lazy so good on you I say. I haven’t checked, but Kyle says you fit under the average grade limit so you’re not even bending the rules let along breaking them.

[/quote:188l1qra]Ditto that. I was quite bummed I missed out on seeing the team last time. If anyone remembers, please remind me to post some prominent advertising about the game next time here on the site.

MemberFair enough. I see where you’re coming from.
Thanks for actually pointing it out though. Kinda weird I moderated myself, I wasn’t expecting that to happen!? I found it weird enough that I was having to moderate my moderators lately so much as it was!
I much prefer it that players are allowed to play both grades. I really hated the concept of players not being allowed to play both grades in the past, it just weakened the player base in both grades which was stupid IMO. So I’m quite happy that I was wrong about this.
Joe told me he was planning to play in the premier grade a few weeks back so I just assumed he had which was where that came from.

MemberWell people didn’t seem to like that too much so I’ll moderate my own post!?
Not sure what the problem is in questioning something like that, but anyhows, at least people are willing to ask me to move my own posts! Better they tell me off than me make an ass of myself in public off the ice as well as on the ice <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="
” title=”Tongue” /> Steve Jackson who (I think) is partly the team manager for the Ducks told me a while back that my original understanding of the rule was correct. Obviously we were both wrong.
I’m not sure it tarnishes my own team or club, but whatever, it’s gone now.

I mean I don’t think we have anything to hide, but perhaps this is a matter to be discussed in private[/quote:2njcz2us]Well I was wrong anyway. You are apparently correct that players can play in both the premier and SNC grades. They just can’t play in the SNC SIHL rep. team at Nationals if they’ve played in the Premier grade.

Last I heard Rob Owens had volunteered to do some marketing work for the club so perhaps it was him?

MemberDon’t worry! I’ve answered my own question.
At the end of an email from Joyce Miller was a new schedule for todays games and it is indeed at 4:30pm. I got confused as I was sent an updated full schedule for the whole season from the SIHL secretary after the email from Joyce but I guess the full schedule had an error in it.
