MemberHmm, true.
You’re always the source of wisdom Kyle.
Getting this information is becoming much easier now which is terrific. When I was trying to get information for all of these pages over a year ago it was like bashing my head against a brick wall. With more people using the site, there’s definitely a better flow of info. coming in which will make the updates much easier. The schools league is still somewhat of a problem since it’s run completely separately from the DIHA and the information about the league has proved almost impossible to get. Apparently it started last night, but I haven’t heard a peep from anyone about it other than rumour.
Hopefully I’ll get this CMS system running shortly and I’ll get onto updating the pages then. The DIHL page is a bit of a mess too, I haven’t been happy with that for some while now. I’m surprised you haven’t been complaining about that one!

Do you prefer the columns? They always goofed a bit, as depending on the spacing there’d often be a date at the bottom of one column, but the content at the top of the next column. I could probably correct that with an extra DIV tag but that just makes for messy coding <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="
” title=”Tongue” /> I’m pretty flexible on it though, the columns can VERY easily be returned.
I’m having issues fixing that CMS system so that it doesn’t interfere with the most recent topics list. I’ve now shunted them into an entirely separate category and set that category to not affect the recent posts, but I’ve got to find some way of hiding the entire category on the main forum index!? Otherwise there’ll be this random category with weird posts which resemble pages on the site which would be weird and kinda pointless. Sounds easy to fix in theory, in practice it’s turning out to be quite a nightmare!

The Premier team is a mess and apart from the Beasts, the rest of the teams are a complete mystery to me. I’m now in constant contact with Krissi Wood who has been awesome when it comes to information about the Peewees so that side of things is rapidly changing, so peewees information is definitely doable. Midgets I don’t know jack about and ditto for Juniors. The Beasts are making their own site so I don’t really need to cover what they’re doing.
The idea is great though! I just need the information <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="

I’ve been wanting one for a while, but it seems it’s impossible to have on which can collapse down properly while still being centered, but we could have a fixed width one which can’t collapse in on itself and that would make navigation around the site a little easier. Saves having annoying submenus everywhere.
"Kyle":1f9910l6 wrote:The web site doesn’t have all the information that would be ideal, but it does have a bunch. We could start to build rosters, lists of games played this year etc. Add a photo, I think players would like their team to have their own little bit of the world.[/quote:1f9910l6]All good ideas. But I need the info. first. I’m also keen not to have bits of information. I’d rather go the whole hog and have it a professional job done, not some half baked thing coz I dont’ have the necessary information. The number of users we have on the forum is making all this far easier now though as I can generally just post a question and someone ‘usually’ knows the answer to it.
Feel free to suggest in depth exactly what content should be where. Quite a few of the pages are a mess at the moment, leftovers from back when I first made the site which haven’t been updated.

The “Latest News – BETA!” is getting it’s news directly from the “General Chatter” forum. My plan is to have a separate (but invisible) forum which contains the latest news posts, that way I and anyone else who I need to give access to it, can post latest news items.
[size=80:3dmkmt1r]It’s slightly messed up coz the general chatter posts haven’t been written as latest news posts, but the concept works sweet as <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="
” title=”Smiley” />[/size:3dmkmt1r]
The same system could be applied to entire pages, so whole pages could be rendered from a single forum post <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="

Painting the floor will cost at least $700, probably more. There is an outside possibility we may get it painted for us but I wouldn’t hold your breathe. Besides, the concrete should do the trick in the mean time.
Anything fancier than that will need to wait a while, unlikely to be this year.
Hans is now talking about installing a pay as you go system for the lights. So you’d chuck a dollar in for 30 mins lights or something like that. Some money would go to the DIHA, some to the rink. Essentially just a way to generate some money, as the cost to run the lights will be almost zero.

MemberDVD burning is a necessity unfortunately. I spose I could encode it as an SVCD, but that’s kinda crappy and (I think) most DVD players can’t play them. VCDs are too crappy, the footage will be bad enough with my wobbly hands and shoddy editing let alone making it worse with shonky encoding <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="
