Thanks, I’ve got the results on there now.

what sort of stuff do you need to know about schools??[/quote:2fd1ni9d]

Just general information to fill out the page. Like the DIHL and SIHL have. At the moment it’s just a brief waffle with no real useful information. In particular some contact details for important people would be useful.

NZIHL page is done now too … http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/nzihl/%5B/url:3dy3jyc2%5D

EDIT: and the schools competition now too … http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/schoolscomp/%5B/url:3dy3jyc2%5D

Schools competition is page is drastically out of date though. I need way more information for it.

EDIT 2: and the tournaments page is done … http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/tournaments/%5B/url:3dy3jyc2%5D

EDIT 3: and the visiting teams page is done … http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/visitingteams/%5B/url:3dy3jyc2%5D

I’d move the documents to the side or down the bottom. From an advertising point of view, you want the stuff about what it is and when it’s happening first.

Maybe you could add a hotlinks box over on the right with that stuff for when it’s actually needed for an upcoming dihl?

Done. Opinions? I’m wasn’t 100% sure what you meant by a ‘hotlinks box’ though.

Some of the videos I downloaded last year were pretty good quality. Better than most of the Sky digital stuff I’ve seen. I have no idea what sort of quality they’d be feeding their NHL games out at, I was just guessing they’d possibly be lower quality since it’s such an obscure sport.

If you get a petition to sign I’ll gladly sign it.

I’m definitely keen to see some hockey on TV even if it is only for the benefit of others – I don’t have Sky. I’ll probably still just download them coz it’s easier than getting DVDs off people, not that I bother doing that very often anyway though.

Joe, I’ve used some more of your pics, credited you with them underneath each one and posted a link back to your site.

It’s now powered by the SMF forum software, so Jane if you really need to you can edit the page here (ditto for Kyle) http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/forum/index.php?topic=502%5B/url:364ixsnf%5D. But generally I’d rather do the updating myself as I’m a picky bugger and like things done my own way! But if you need to change something in a hurry, or if I’m being a slack prat then feel free to charge ahead and fix things where appropriate.

I didn’t realise Sky used to play so many live games so I take back what I said. I assumed if we did get hockey on TV then the only thing being shown live would be the Stanley Cup.

I pay $29.95/month for 25 GB/month data transfer from Slingshot. I downloaded about 10 games in one week last year on the same plan and it didn’t even make a dent in my data transfer limit. But I’m not really into watching hockey on TV so haven’t bothered since. The only broadband plan cheaper is Orcon I think at $19.95, but they only give you 200 MB/month! So I still reckon you need a better plan.

I don’t get why you don’t all just download them. I spose they wouldn’t be live, but I’m not sure if Sky ever had many games live anyway (I’m not sure though). A broadband net connection is cheaper than Sky and the quality’s probably better too.

I’ll PM a certain hockey player who may be able to organise cheap access to easily downloadable hockey games. We should be able to get direct download access to video files without having to mess about separately torrenting everything. Cost would be about $10/month each I think. Downloads should be close to 1 MB/sec if you have a fast connection.

Kinda illegal, but if we don’t have access to them any other way I don’t see any problem with it.

News dropdown added to the menu.

Am also using the forum as a CMS for all the news pages now. The rest of the pages will be done at some stage too. Over the next month and a bit the date format for the latest news posts will be changing to the style of the forum. Haven’t figured out how to change the date format yet – possibly wont ever.

I’ve also added a dropdown to the Gallery button so that people can still access the old gallery. Plus I’ll be adding a whole swathe of stuff to the new SMF gallery soon so people will be able to use that one if they want too. Hopefully it wont confuse people too much having multiple galleries on the same site at the same time! I’ll also add a new videos gallery too which will be driven by the forum software as well.  That’ll probably be coming after all the photos are transferred to the new gallery. Once the new gallery is up and running I’ll add direct links in the main menu to the various parts of the gallery, ie: DIHL, SIHL, Schools comp. etc.

My next job is to add a drop down to the forum button so that logged in users can choose to go straight to whichever forum they want or to read their unread posts etc. Still trying to figure this out though!

    Ryan,

PS: Joe, feel free to start pouring your photos into the new gallery <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

Yeah, I get that, but from battered_and_bruised’s post I get the impression that it’s a “Canterbury Premier” team, not just a random team from the Premier grade of the Christchurch SNC. So presumably the Red Devils unless I’ve got it wrong – which is highly possible.
