[/quote:1xwu1oci]I’ve split the thread, but haven’t added a poll as I didn’t see much point. You can’t know the answer till you know where the rating cut off will be (if there is one) and how many teams there will be. The schedule would also have some impact as if it’s too close to the Dunedin Premier Series then the league will lose top level players and hence the level of play would drop.

[/quote:1xwu1oci]Actually, I don’t think we would, many of us would be ranked in the A if we were by ourselves, and those that wouldn’t are borderline. I don’t think we would be the top of the table but I’d say we would at least be fairly decent competition.
It actually all depends on how the ranking system is going to be, and the rules.[/quote:1xwu1oci]
For last season. None of the Beasts were rated as a 6 (cutoff for A-grade). I was a 6 hence wasn’t allowed on the team in the DIHL. Oddly Nick wasn’t allowed either and was a 5, that was just a cockup by Kyle.
However, in reality some of the Beasts should have been at 6, Jason, Nick and Mike. However Kyle messed up and didn’t bother re-rating everyone and so you were all allowed to play due to your ratings from the season before. So … technically the Beasts shouldn’t have been allowed to play last season but wiggled through a loop hole.
Jane of course has total power since she’s running the thing now so can adjust the rating scheme to wherever she feels like. She can also adjust individual players ratings, although that’s generally done by committee (she’ll email a bunch of people for their opinions probably). But in reality, it’s unlikely that any of our team will be moving from 6 to 7 for this next season. Jason’s a possibility, but that’s about it.
Assuming Jane doesn’t change the rating scheme, or change the number of teams in the A-grade, we’d be a team of players ranging from ratings of 3-6/7 competing in a league intended for players ranging from ratings of 5/6-10. So we’d definitely be at the extreme low end of the league.
The level of the DIHL A-grade teams from the Autumn season was probably a little lower than the Ducks/Alexandra SIHL teams which whipped us pretty badly.
Ryan,
PS: Mark, when’s that game we’re sposed to be playing against the lowest ranked A-grade team? Or are you not bothering now that Kyle’s not running the league?

No point having it there if it’s never used.

Apart from the last few weeks I paid what ever the price was for each practice the whole of last semester… so do I really have to pay 170? thats alot for just this semesters practices isnt it?[/quote:lx1arryw]The Dunedin Ice Hockey Association don’t seem to have a record of who paid for what practices. So they’re guessing how much people owe for practices!? Last I spoke to Jackie (DIHA treasurer) she was happy for people to work out how much they owed themselves. According to Jackie keeping a record of how much people paid was too difficult.
And no I’m not mocking here. This is actually what I’ve been told.

Since I’m not doing this directly as part of the club I don’t feel I can go pushing for it too much either. Feel free to question any of the powers that be if you get the chance though, I think everyone involved will be very happy if it can be skipped for the week.

MemberThanks Kyle. I’ll ask Bode tonight if she minds me changing everything over to Sharks and Jets as it’ll be less confusing that way.

MemberSo which team were wearing Sharks and which were wearing Jets uniforms?
The official team names are the highly original “Team One” and “Team Two” – blame Bode for that.
