    Sounds like an excellent idea.

But if it was to be held at Tekapo, shouldn’t the Tekapo people organise it?[/quote:df2tzolz]

That would require someone in Tekapo being willing to organise it <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” /> The other problem is making sure that it’s run well, as if it’s run by some half-wit I could see them coming up short on numbers. Convincing people to join a hockey team in support of gay ideology is likely to be an uphill battle as it is.

Any suggestions on who to contact in other centers to organise such an event for us?

Naseby, Tekapo and Queenstown seem the most likely candidates.

[size=4:38txt92b][b:38txt92b]Picks for round four of the Dunedin Ice Hockey League (DIHL):[/b:38txt92b][/size:38txt92b]

    [b:38txt92b]Bullfrogs vs Sharks[/b:38txt92b]
This will be the Bullfrogs toughest competition so far. The Bullfrogs had a strong performance last week, beating Kings, but the Sharks are looking mighty strong. My pick, 1-5 to the Sharks. Phipps-Black and Laing to score for the Bullfrogs and Elkin, Kliegl, Johnston and Regan Wilson to share the honors for the Sharks.

    [b:38txt92b]Kings vs John McGlashan[/b:38txt92b]
Another mismatched competition this time. Unless they’ve been doing some serious traing recently, the John McGlashan team are going to be hard pressed to beat Kings. My pick, 6-0 to Kings, Mitchell, King and Keiler to share the goal scoring duties.

    [b:38txt92b]Bears vs Jets[/b:38txt92b]
The Bears have been viciously attached recently, a member of the Bullfrogs was sent to Christchurch to hunt down yours truly and ram a car door shut on my arm. Other than that the Bears are looking pretty solid, with a good defensive lineup, well organised under the management of David Patchett and will be hoping for a strong performance against the Jets. My pick, 3-2 to the Jets, two younger Patchetts to score for the Bears and Sedgwick and Soper to score for the Jets.

This may be the last time we see Jane Soper in the DIHL this season as she’s unfortunately moving away for an internship. If anyone has any contacts who may be able to help find an job for an Occupational Therapist please let us know as we need Jane to come back next year <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

Our SEO is rapidly improving! I did some minor tweaks a while back coz nzicehockey.co.nz was kicking our butts on a search for “ice hockey”, “nz ice hockey”, “nz hockey” and a bunch of other things. But we’re rapidly catching up <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” /> We are:

Fourth on a Google search for “NZ Hockey”
Eighth on a Google search for “New Zealand Hockey”
Sixth on a Google search for “NZ Ice Hockey”
Fifth on a Google search for “Ice Hockey”
Second on a Google search for “Dunedin Hockey”
First on a Google search for “Dunedin Ice Hockey”, duh!
Third on a Google search for “Otago Ice Hockey”

This is showing up in the number of search engine hits which has shot up to around 1900 in the past month from about 300 or so last month <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

Unfortunately we’re getting our butts kicked for “New Zealand Ice Hockey”, “Otago Hockey” and “Hockey” <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” /> But once the WordPress install is up and running we should improve a bit more as I’ll be adding some more SEO features to shoot us up the rankings a bit more <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

An upset! 5-4 to the Bullfrogs! Unfortunately the game was marred by an immature fight and a game misconduct or two were dealt out. Behave kiddies!

Final score was 3-2 to the Randoms. This game wont be recorded in the history of the DIHL record books as it doesn’t count.

Dang, final score was 7-1 to the Sharks, so not [b:17rgezt1]too[/b:17rgezt1] far off my pick <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” /> The Bears let in a flurry of goals in the first period. The Bears forwards were pinching in quite deep and not getting into position to receive any passes. And Hellyer decided to pass the puck to the opposition!? But late in the first period, the Bears forwards really pulled finger, sorted their positioning out and turned into a lean, mean goal scoring machine, albeit the Sharks had the puck most of the time <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” /> A couple more goals by the Sharks, one by the Bears and a few annoying penalties rounded out the last two periods.

I forgot to add Mike to the list! I couldn’t figure out for the life of me how the heck we end up with uneven lines tonight until I checked back here.

Are we using my arbitrarily suggested 10 player limit? In which case we’ve already reached it.

If Stefan doesn’t want to play in goal I’m sure someone will step in to fill his shoes. I’ll email Jaimee’s mum to see if she can be recruited for the purpose.

There’ll probably be uniforms there, but just in case, it would probably be a good idea for us to take a light coloured uniform each so we don’t clash with the black Jets uniforms.

Sweet, that’s 10 players. So the team is full and now all we need is a goalie, or we can play without one <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />
