Well I must just do that then.

My pick: 5-2 to the Sharks.[/quote:18mal4hn]Ohh, I almost got this one! Final score was 6-2 to the Sharks who now head into the semi-finals in first place. A well deserved win by the Sharks and a demolision of all other teams in the round robin. The Sharks are looking hard to beat for the league championship this season.
"Ryan":18mal4hn wrote:[b:18mal4hn]Jets vs Bullfrogs[/b:18mal4hn]
My pick: 3-2 to the Jets.[/quote:18mal4hn]Darn it, almost but not quite. Final score was 3-2 to the Bullfrogs instead of the Jets. I’m guessing Laing sunk the puck in the wrong goal! A tight game this one. Lots of good defensive work by the Bullfrogs kept the Jets forwards nicely out of the action. Some video footage of this game will be posted shortly.
"Ryan":18mal4hn wrote:[b:18mal4hn]Bears vs John McGlashan[/b:18mal4hn]
My pick: 4-2 to the Bears.[/quote:18mal4hn]This was a momentous occasion for the Bears team! This team has been together, largely unchanged, for two seasons now and this is their/our first ever win! Hopefully a sign of things to come <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” /> Roll on 2008 <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/grin.gif" alt="” title=”Grin” />
John McGlashan let five goals through in the first period, but Wick stepped up to the mark in the second period and shut down the Bears nicely apart from a nice wrist shot from Martin. Stefan King was helping with coaching duties for the Johnnies team too which seemed to kick in towards the end of the game when the they started playing more as a team unit but this wasn’t enough to stop the Bears onslaught. Another two goals in the third period rounded out Wood’s first ever shut out (AFAIK) in the DIHL. Johnnies will be looking to avenge this thumping in the semi-finals where they’ll likely be facing off against the Bears once again for the wooden spoon.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberEDIT: Don’t worry about it. Joyce has emailed the results to me. I’ll be posting them all shortly. Thanks Joyce <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” />
Anyone know the score for the Sharks vs Kings game? I forgot to check before I left the rink <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt="” title=”Sad” />

[b:127xuvgy]Sharks vs Kings[/b:127xuvgy]
Big grudge match here. A decent proportion of the Sharks team are from OBHS including their team manager/coach and these are looking like two of the strongest teams in the league. The Sharks have been dangerous all season though and Kings will need to be on top form to beat them. The Sharks didn’t have a goalie last week (not that it mattered) but will hopefully have Larry Wheeler back in the pipes again for them this week. My pick: 5-2 to the Sharks. Harrison King to score for Kings, the two Wilsons to get two a piece and Elkin to pick the remaining goal for the Sharks.[b:127xuvgy]Jets vs Bullfrogs[/b:127xuvgy]
Another big grudge match here, with the majority of the reigning DIHL B-grade champions the Beasts playing for these two teams. Interestingly, the Bullfrogs have most of the Beasts defensive lineup whereas the Jets have most of the Beasts forward lineup. My pick: 3-2 to the Jets. Sedgwick and Reymond to score for the Jets; Laing, Honore and Dilkes to score for the Bullfrogs.[b:127xuvgy]Bears vs John McGlashan[/b:127xuvgy]
And another big game here as this is the last chance for these teams to notch up a win in the round robin. The John McGlashan team are looking a little stronger now and have recently recruited Dunedin Penguins Premier team player Ryan Wick as goalie which will surely help them out. The Bears have been picking up pace lately though and will be looking to do some damage with their quick hands in front of the net. My pick: 4-2 to the Bears. Three Patchetts and a Roth to score for the Bears, Fleming to score one goal and Wilson to sink one in off an assist from Wick for Johnnies.Ryan,
EDIT: changed to Muenster to Reymond.
Ryan HellyerMemberMark is easily confused <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="” title=”Tongue” />
Good to see people are so passionate about the team … which doesn’t actually exist yet! Bode’s well for the team if and when it does exist (yes that was an intentionally corny play on words this time).
"Azzy77":iqrs17cj wrote:Its not like this is a committee discussion on here, saying foreign players aren’t welcome, its a bunch of nerds, and arm-chair experts trying to predict how team selection will go.[/quote:iqrs17cj]I agree with Aaron, this is just a forum, none of us have anything choice in any of these decisions (I’m assuming) so hopefully no outsiders will get put off with peoples rantings. These decisions are totally up to whoever is placed in charge of such things and I’m assuming that will be none of the people who have posted here so far. And of course if yer a kick ass import, the team will greet you with open arms <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” />

Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberDoes anyone know who would be running the team if it goes ahead? DIHA? SIHL? Seperate group?
I was under the impression that this would be a Dunedin team and 100% controlled by DIHA, not a second SIHL team. But I don’t think anyone ever told me that, it was just an assumption which was apparently incorrect.

Ryan HellyerMember"Kyle":2neyyx9o wrote:I just meant change the image at the top, but I can see where you’re coming from.
[/quote:2neyyx9o]I thought that would be a bit weird. Same site, different header.
I could swish the page up with some SIHL graphics perhaps? I keep meaning to get hold of a copy of their new team logo design to put on there somewhere. As with all the other stuff, that’d probably get left till a complete overhaul is done though.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberBasically I don’t want to be in charge of another website, which is what’s gonna start happening if I change headers, style sheets etc.
Feel free to resurrect southernicehockey.co.nz <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” />

Ryan HellyerMember"Azzy77":3t8a8j0x wrote:Two options I see1. Give SIHL its own letterhead
2. I don’t know this for a fact, but it looks like SIHL being hosted on our website, so retain our header, but add .co.nz at the end of it.
[/quote:3t8a8j0x]This is a bit of political football I spose as I don’t want anything to do with it, but the old SIHL site was a useless pile of crap that was never updated. So I bent my own rules a bit to accommodate it. Sticking a new header on is separating it from our site, in which case I don’t want to run it as that’s just more work for me to do.
As far as I’m concerned their page is just part of our site. I agreed to post their news on our page and label it their official web page, but I told them if they want anything customised, or SIHL specific then then they’ll need to get their own site. They’re just piggy backing on ours since they couldn’t find anyone to maintain their own site. If I start customising the page they’re more likely to not bother finding anyone to take over the job which is something I’m keen on them doing as I don’t really like having to deal with their stuff as well. So in a nutshell, it’s only intended for Dunedin people, but it’s there for others to use as well and since there’s no SIHL site then I have to post all their news for Dunedin people as well. Hopefully that makes sense. Plus the SIHL are even worse at providing information than the DIHA, so the page is incorrect half the time anyway – makes me even less motivated.
So yes, I agree, a separate site/page for it would make sense, but I don’t want anything to do with it.
Ryan,
PS: If there was a separate ‘official’ SIHL website, would you guys still want a seperate header?
