Dunedin Stars would definitely get my vote.

I assume there’s probably some politics at play behind the scenes in regards to names. Perhaps once the dust is settled the name will change to Dunedin Stars, just as the South Auckland Swarm became the Botany Swarm after a year or two.

    Bears team is full too.

I’m still waiting for team entries though. Callan’s is the only one so far.

I took some pictures of the teams and I did a couple of minutes video footage. I’ll post the photos shortly but may not get on to the video till the weekend.

If you see Stefan first, and he wants them, just pass them straight on to him. Or use them on Saturday!

I gave some to Callan Wood a while ago, Bauer Vapor Hi-Lo’s, size 10 I think.

If Callan isn’t coming then I’ll ask him to give them to you instead. I think he’s heading away for the summer too, in which case I’ll get him to leave them here for you if you want them. They’re for sale too, not sure how much, but probably not a lot.

The team is looking good so far and it sounds like there’s lots of work going on behind the scenes to push this team forward.

[b:3odt0yng]To save some confusion which I’m sure is going to pop up shortly[/b:3odt0yng] … an important thing to note is that this is a second Southern Ice Hockey League team (Stampede was the first), not a Dunedin Ice Hockey Association team. So it’s likely that the team name will not have Dunedin in it, just as the Southern Stampede don’t have Queenstown in their name.

    Fee is paid.

And count me in, I’m always keen for some inline hockey. Although I still think that either George St school or Kavanagh are better spots, but we’ll see. I’ve never played a proper game by the rink so hopefully you’ll prove me wrong <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

Apparently he has it covered. I hadn’t even told him about till about 1 min after my last post. So he must have heard about it from elsewhere.

    Aww, no volunteers yet <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” />

I’ve told Joyce that the scorers should take a break now that the DIHL is over. So you may have to bring a stop watch and pen and paper (or have a good memory) if there’s no one score box. Last time I suggested they took a break they turned up anyway though so who knows, they may be there, they may be not.

I looked it to getting refs sweater a while ago. You can look round for the cheapest/best deal, but if you wont a jearsy with red armbands its best to go to ‘sourse for sports’. They were the only ones I could find with red armbands all the rest were orange.

Source for Sports is owned by the same company as Sport Chek so you could try there too as they mostly have the same stuff but occasionally at different prices.

There’s now a game on October 31st vs a team being formed by Callan McLaughlin. I think the team is pretty much going to be the Jets DIHL team, but I’m not certain.

YEAHH, that’s why I didn’t get that backhander in during our last encounter! It had nothing to do with a lack of skill at all <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

    Cool, thanks Kyle.
There’s a bunch from the beginners practice that want to play apparently.

I wonder if the non-Bears peewees and their parents could form a team? They’d probably be a good match for us if they had you and Larry playing out.

This is in reply to a question Tom asked me about the Sharks competing.

Yep, the Sharks can of course play. The tricky thing though is that you’ll need someone to organise the team. All that you need to do is make sure everyone turns up and if they don’t they’ll need to front up with whatever they’re short by themselves. Feel free to volunteer <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” /> The Sharks are quite strong though, so losing some of your best players would be a good idea or you’ll stomp on us like a bug.

    Done.

They should probably still be moved out of public view though I think. But I’ll wait till a few more people spill forth their opinion first.
