Skeletal design in progress … http://getasportsite.com/dunedinicehockeynew/

And before anyone is stupid enough to ask … no this is not what it’s going to look like! I’m just sorting out the HTML, forum integration and all that crap. This is to make sure the back end of the site is fully functional as there were quite a few gremlins in the original beta I showed you guys a while back.

I’m trying to incorporate ‘feature items’ along with associated photos ala Kyle’s suggestion. With feature items I can justify sorting out photos for them rather than for every single minor piece of news which comes along. Plus it emphasises some of the most popular parts of the site such as DIHL Picks and other major news items.

The minor news items are now just links to the actual news item. The news items will probably need to have more appropriate titles for this reason so people know what it is they’re clicking towards.

The forum is now better integrated with the rest of the site. You can login from the main page (Chris will be happy now) and once you are logged in it takes you back to the home page which updates with all the information you could possibly want.

Boring pages with not much on them will likely have the news and forum information on them too, in particular the latest news pages which will possibly appear where the featured news items are when you click on them.

I was stuck at home today as my shoulder isn’t feeling too good, my attempts to do chemistry work as you can see have failed miserably <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

    cheers,
    Ryan

PS: don’t bother pointing out bugs just yet as there are billions of them! Feel free to critique the general concept if you feel the need though.

Yeah I just was specualating on the reason they don’t advertise…. I was serious about camera work though…. I mean the all blacks advertise the ones the ones they won’t people to come to, but the yhave a butt load more that no-one is allowed to, well at least thats what they told us, on evidence from france you would have to wonder?
    [/quote:2em2i92c]

I’m guessing the All-Blacks have a problem with other teams spying on them. I somehow suspect the Ice Blacks may not have that issue <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

Might pay to ask your team first next time <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />

I was totally confused for this first 5 min of the game as we were down one player and yet I had all of the money from our team in my pocket!

In case anyone is wondering. I haven’t forgotten about this upgrade, it’s just been put on the back burner as I’m thinking of rejigging things a little more before going live.

I may even wait until there’s an entirely new design ready. Some of the changes I have in mind don’t really make sense with the existing design hence I’m not intending to make the new system live yet – despite saying I would a while back.

Game last night seemed to be quite popular. But this wasn’t quite what I had in mind when I was asking for teams to play against us. It was more just a bunch of players turning up for a game. So I’ll leave organising it to someone else next week – volunteer? Graham perhaps?

I’ll organise another game against the Bears if someone organises a team roughly around the same level as us, otherwise I’ll pass on the organising duties sorry.

Are you guys sure they want us there??? Maybe they are closed trainings.
Especially knowing Ryan he would film the whole thing and upload it, and then all the other teams could figure out ways to beat them1!!!
    [/quote:1yvcrniu]

Lol, good point about the filming, although I wasn’t planning to. The last one I heard about wasn’t closed as such, they just didn’t tell anyone it was on. I can’t think of any reason they’d care about people coming to watch though.

I saw training games for the U18 Team Canada a few years ago and they advertised for spectators to come and watch. They didn’t promote it as such, but if you kept a look on their website they eventually posted the game times and you could just wander in and sit down with your pop corn and coke. Was quite handy since I only lived about three blocks from the rink <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=":)” title=”Smiley” />

If anyone hears when their training games are on it would be handy if post the details here. Last time they had a training game here in Dunedin they never told anyone and so we didn’t get to go watch <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt=":(” title=”Sad” />

Final score 7-6 to the Bears.
Kara magically appeared on the other team, I’m not sure how that happened!?

Only if Liam or Jaimiee pulls out as I’m assuming they won’t want to share duties.

5% chance I’d say. I think everyone’s pretty happy with two perfect lines. But of course someone may fail to turn up so maybe … I’m not sure I’ve been very helpful but anyhows …

I’m assuming you’ve let Phil know? As he’s the one organising refs.

Cool. You are now a Bear again and I’ve shunted Regan back to Graham’s team.

I’ve stuck Dan Dilkes and Anna Craw on the ‘leftovers’ list.

Tom Wilson maybe organising a team for next time.

In the interest of the Bears not totally decimating their opposition, here’s a suggested set of new team rosters. I’ve removed Jason and Jack coz it looks like they’ll be reffing or lining (any word on this yet?). I’ve moved Deb from Bears to Graham’s team and Nick and Regan from Graham’s team to the Bears.

Is this okay with you Graham?
Assuming that Jack and Jason aren’t playing, this leaves us shy of one player to complete two full lines.
