[/quote:3lrfm4wp]I’ve heard bad reports on his ability to sharpen hockey skates. Maybe he’s better at figure skates.
Ryan HellyerMemberWelcome to the forum Elise <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” />
Ryan,

[/quote:2bzm8q2o]Weird, I thought it was 50x25m or something like that. It even felt small when I was on it. But I guess being surrounded by trees/hills makes it feel smaller than it really is. AFAIK IIHF regulations require glass around the entire perimeter too, so it would probably fail on that count too.
Ryan HellyerMemberAFAIK rinks don’t need to meet IIHF regulations for some minor competitions – I think I read that somewhere or other, and I’m not sure what ‘minor’ is defined as. Alexandra is slightly bigger than IIHF, but it doesn’t have a full glass enclosure of course so that would count it out. Other than that, there are no other rinks of the correct size, let alone meeting the other random specifications like board heights, glass etc in New Zealand.
Interesting tidbit of info: In the Calgary Roller Hockey League (that I used to play in) the rules required three mens changing rooms, three womens changing rooms and separate womens and mens changing rooms. So that would count out every rink in New Zealand!
Ryan HellyerMemberThanks for the clarification Kyle. Looks like the IIHF has a shiny new website too, which is a good thing as their old one was pretty crappy.
Ryan HellyerMemberJackie has emailed me to say that she doesn’t think the practice times need to be corrected on the website as they can change at any time. I’ve forwarded the email to Phil Pielak-Jones so he knows what’s going on. How people are sposed to find out about practices if they’re not on the web is beyond me as the club doesn’t have everyones contact details and never will as new people want to join all the time, and if they don’t know when the practices are, they’ll have to go through the rigmarole of contacting Joyce by email to find out when the practices are which could mean they don’t get a reply for weeks.
Ryan HellyerMemberWelcome to the forum Richie.
Er, who are you?
Ryan HellyerMember"Azzy77":1dusxoat wrote:Jackie tells me I text everyone I know, hopefull they text everyone they know, Ryan puts it on the website, I don’t see the issue….[/quote:1dusxoat]That could work … if you sent me the practice times, however you usually don’t – presumably because you haven’t been told either. I’d guess I hear about 50% of all schedule changes AFTER they have taken place, ie: practices have occurred before I even hear about them and about 40% I hear about with less than a weeks notice.
"Azzy77":1dusxoat wrote:but perhaps jackie doesn;t have Ryans number..[/quote:1dusxoat]My cell number has been posted at http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/contact/ for two years now and she has my email address which is how I asked to be contacted anyway and I’ve sent her my cell number by email many times before.
Plus, I don’t like posting second information as it’s just not reliable enough and people get pissy when they turn up for a practice which doesn’t exist – admittedly I’m not sure you (Aaron) have told me anything incorrect before, but lots of other people have even though they were quite insistent that they had it right.
Ryan HellyerMember"Chris":3pg1e61n wrote:It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again: the lines of communication within the club kinda suck.[/quote:3pg1e61n]Yeah.
Joyce and Jackie had asked me to send all questions/concerns about practice times to them. But I’ve started sending my emails to Phil Pielak-Jones as well so hopefully he’ll be able to help with the situation as he seems concerned about the lack of communication too.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMember"Kyle":ocjv5j5n wrote:Cool. There’s some timetable changes to keep the website up-to-date.
Sunday beginners is finished for the year, starts again 3rd Sunday in January.
Tuesday night practice which was Thursday night practice is now back to Thursday night practice. Jackie did mention a time, but I can’t remember what it was. 7 or 8?
[/quote:ocjv5j5n]There have been no schedule changes for over a month … officially <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="” title=”Tongue” />
Aaron sent me a text last night saying that Jackie said that practice is on Thursdays at 8pm.

I’ve been pissing around designing a new forum instead of looking after the existing site <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="” title=”Tongue” /> Redesign of the site is coming along nicely though, I’ve largely got the main static side sorted now, bar a few additions/bug fixes. I’m now working on a custom forum theme which will probably take me quite some time to finish. Am currently aiming for having a new site up and running (minus Penguins theme) by January, may be as late as February if the forum design takes longer than expected.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberI feel violated. Those tights are just plain wrong.
Awesome show though. Kudos to all those involved.
Ryan HellyerMemberThe download page doesn’t work very well. Once the zip file is downloaded, there is no way to get back to where you were without pressing the back button.
Ryan HellyerMemberCool.
I’ve stumbled it for you.

As I said, you might want to consider banning IP ranges from Europe (esp eastern europe).[/quote:10uqelng]I’d rather leave that as a last resort solution. I’d be pretty pissed off if I lived in one of those countries and 99% of the worlds forums wouldn’t let me access them just because some asshole person used a server in my country to spam someone on the other side of the planet.
