Ryan HellyerMember
I was meaning we need a video editor for the videos of Dunedin games.
I’m assuming the footage/music you’ve posted is copyrighted so I’m not too keen on posting it directly to our own site. I don’t mind linking to them though as that’s slightly less dodgy, still illegal probably, but much less so and noones ever going to haul us up on it.
If you want to upload some better quality videos to the web then I suggest using [url:2w92b8tg]http://www.freehostia.com[/url:2w92b8tg] which offers 250 MB of disk space and plenty of bandwidth for hosting whatever you want. You need to sign up for it and a day later you’ll be able to connect using an FTP program like [url:2w92b8tg]http://www.smartftp.com/[/url:2w92b8tg]. I’ll PM you an old account I had with them which you’re welcome to use.
Actually, on second thought, I’ll also see if I can rustle up an online upload program to add to the site, that way you won’t need to shag round using an FTP program.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberAww, we can’t rate or add comments to the video.
Ryan HellyerMemberCool <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” /> Thanks for the dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi plug <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” />
I didn’t even realise rookie#19 was you Stefan!I like how the commentary is played over the music, a lot of those clips on Youtube remove the background noise, commentary etc and I don’t like that so much.
Don’t spose you feel like being the official “video clip editor” for dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi?
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberHi,
I’ve expanded the videos section to encompass a bunch of non-NHL clips.
The new URL is:[url:2130sib1]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/videos/[/url:2130sib1]
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberBandwidth wouldn’t be too much of a problem. I’d just need to chuck some advertisements on there and they’d probably cover the costs of paying for more bandwidth plus probably have money left over. It’s a moot point though as I’m not about to go copying stuff I’m not sure we’re allowed to use.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberFYI, the tech dude at the chem. dept. is making an online ice hockey statistics program for us at the mo. Will have to see how well it works though. He reckons it’ll be easy and he’s shown me a demo of what he’s done so far. It works but is still very much in development stage. Hopefully he doesn’t give up before it’s complete.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberIs this the type of footage you were after Kyle? When I originally posted I must have misread your post as I thought you were wanting total game coverage, not just highlights. There’s stacks of clips on YouTube and they’re updated every week. So we can quite easily create a fairly thorough NHL videos section here with not too much effort. I’d upload them directly on to our own site, but I’m not sure that would be entirely legal, so we’re stuck with links for the mean time. There’s probably a bunch more on Google Videos, Yahoo Videos etc. but I haven’t bothered looking.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberTest version of a new web page:
[url:1qrp1vrm]http://www.dunedinicehockey.co.nz/nhl/[/url:1qrp1vrm]To keep it updated I’ll either need people to keep sending me links or someone to edit it directly (quite easy and you wont need any knowledge of web design). I’ll probably put them into two seperate columns to jam more on screen. Plus we can have a series of pages of them.
Lemme know what you think.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberI think you probably chose not to allow people to send you emails when you registered. Either that or there’s a bug in the forum. The message shown when trying to email you is:

Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberHow come you can’t sign up at any old time? Seems odd that a website would be trying to limit the number of users.
We can’t email you as you seem to have disabled that feature here. We can PM you though.
Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberI was told otherwise, I’ll change it though as what I heard was only a rumour.
Ryan,

Ryan HellyerMemberThe gloves and shorts are now sold.
$90 for all of the remaining stuff.Ryan,
Ryan HellyerMemberAFAIK there’s nothing available like that. The IIHF showed the world champs online, but I don’t think the NHL allows it.
