Er, Kyle, that’s definitely a major miscommunication coz I’ve been telling everyone it’s on tonight!!!!!!
I intended this to be a permanent thing, definitely not a one off at all.

Apparently some Ice Black beat him to it. So Stefan is now the second person to break the glass. But he is the first player from Dunedin <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="

Member"guest":ytne1jro wrote:Granted, Ryan is a rough and tumble style of player. Every team needs a player like that. He is also a smart player at times. He was yapping a lot out there but that was all it was. YAPPING!!! He had no intention to fight that entire game. From what I heard around the rink was that the altercation that happened in the dressing rooms was all talk, mostly by the Canterbury captain. Apperently he had a go at Ryan and said fight him right then and there and Ryan said fine stop talking and do it but the guy just walked off. I think from those actions, Ryan knew that the player was full of crap and wasn’t going to. Even the Gore guys saw it and said the same thing. Nothing was going to happen. Ryan used that against the Canterbury guys effectivly and got under their skin. They took a lot of dumb penalties and I think that Dunedin only took a few. I mean how many misconducts did Canterbury get? Ryan played those guys like a fiddle and it takes a very skilled and knowledgeable person to now how to do that. Granted it’s not very “sportsmanlike” but really do you think the All Blacks are polite on the rugby field? Hell no. It’s in every sport. It’s a tactic, that if used correctly, can benifit the team using it and it was proven in the finals.[/quote:ytne1jro]LMAO, you’re actually sounding quite reasonable there!
Still, you’ve gotta use tactics within the rules and he’s bound to land himself in hot water with those sort of tactics eventually. And there’s always the whole setting an example of the kiddies line that Kyle was getting at. At any rate I’m not about to hold it against him, if the powers that be feel it’s necessary they’ll deal out whatever punishment is necessary.
[i:ytne1jro]Slightly off-topic:[/i:ytne1jro] Ryan Wick has to be the hardest bastard I’ve ever tried to shove out of the slot, he’s like a freaking tree, I can’t move him no matter how I try.
Ryan,
PS: Guest, You sure do know a lot about what Ryan Wick gets up to don’t you <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="

Member[b:5gquqwfs]Update 2:[/b:5gquqwfs]
Hans is planning to weld the fencing on tomorrow. He’s also arranging wood to place at the bottom of the netting. I’ll be taking my light along tomorrow for fitting and I’ll track down a few more hopefully. Apparently I don’t need any with covers now though as Hans wants to put the lighting above the netting which will come over the top of the gallery as a roof to stop pucks coming out the top. Hans was also planning to put that green rubbery shit down, but I suggested that was [b:5gquqwfs]really[/b:5gquqwfs] bad plan since a lot of people (me included) want to use our inline skates up there and to practice puck handling on it (no good on rubber). We’ll also be helping move a bunch of junk tomorrow which is sitting in the way at the moment – old skates, paint and a whole pile of other trash which needs taken down the other end of the grandstand. Apparently there’s a bunch of other things which need done too and Hans is keen for a few extras to come help. So far I’ve got me, possibly Andy Noble if he’s not too busy and Bode said she might help too. Extra helpers would be much appreciated. I’m not sure when Hans is wanting us to turn up, but I’ll give him a call tomorrow and find out what the deal is. We’ve also got an [i:5gquqwfs]electrician[/i:5gquqwfs] lined up to do the wiring for the lights.Ryan,

Kyle has sent an interesting email to the DIHA committee on the subject. I think it’s a glitch in the NZIHF’s administrational procedures rather than a problem at our end, although I’m not certain as I’ve never seen any documentation on the issue (which is why I’m assuming it’s a problem with the NZIHF as they don’t appear to have any policies on such things).
In the past there have typically only been games between teams within the same region and each region has a fairly tight control over who’s registered, banned and what not. The CIHA and SIHL don’t really have any reason to communicate with each other and hence I think this bug has popped up, and due to this the NZIHF hasn’t had a need (I think) to step in and control things like this.

MemberWhat’s the deal with players actively trying to pick a fight like that guy did with Blake. Nothing was done by the ref, presumably because he didn’t drop his gloves. But I assumed there would be some other rule to punish players for that type of thing. Although I know very little about the rules on these things. This isn’t a criticism, I’m just interested to know what the ref can and can’t do in that sort of situation.
Any refs out there with an idea on how this type of things is “supposed” to be dealt with? I was totally expecting him to be kicked off the ice, but no punishment seemed to result.

I’m out of ideas on how to prevent them from getting through. In fact I’m wondering if it’s a human that’s registering, then a robot is auto-posting with the human generated login.

Member"rookie#19":2vtpa59l wrote:… is he going to be disciplined or something??[/quote:2vtpa59l]I doubt it. I spose the DIHA committee could make a decision on something like that, but personally I’d rather see the rules tied up better to prevent players like that from competing in the future (the guy from Christchurch I mean). Although Ryan Wick did show some restraint at the start, normally I’d still expect him to be punished, but the situation is definitely a little messy here so perhaps a warning is more in order. I’d support a decision either way though.
It was particularly amusing seeing Blake skating away from someone trying to pick a fight with him (I’m assuming it was also that Gary guy?).
Ryan,
PS: I’m Ryan [b:2vtpa59l]Hellyer,[/b:2vtpa59l] not Ryan [b:2vtpa59l]Wick[/b:2vtpa59l]! Just incase anyone’s getting confused here – I’d be far too chicken shit to join in a fight with a big fat goon from Christchurch

I’ll let Joyce know anyway.

Member"Kyle":32mqj38i wrote:And if he’s banned then presumably he’s not registered anywhere, so he shouldn’t be able to play in the Easton Cup at all, surely?[/quote:32mqj38i]I assume it’s up to the organizers of the event to ensure that players are registered. However … if the NZIHF doesn’t provide a way to find out who’s registered then it’s unlikely to happen so I assume that’s the case here.
If I get round to it I might prepare some sort of proposal for the Easton Cup 2008, including recommended procedures for team sign-ups and something about this registration issue as well. Basically a plan to avoid some of the complications encountered this time round, in particular ways to reduce the workload on the organizers as personally there’s no way I’d want to run an event the way it was done this year as it would take too much time.
