U need to change ur quote round tho! It reads “Crosby < Ovechkin"!!!rookie19MemberAnd i think that goal by Crosby is nice, but check this one out by Ovechkin. No doubt most of u have seen this goal, rated goal of the year by basically everyone with a brain! haha. Enjoy, all u Crosby lovers!!! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />

Peace and godbless Ovechkin more than Crosby,
STIFFrookie19MemberWow, what a setup on that play by Crosby! 😯
Crosby is good, Ovechkin is great. Ovechkin was the Calder winner for a reason!! Washington, like Pittsburgh; will be a great team in the near future, as their young talent gains experience. Ovechkin has no one anywhere near his level in WSH (Alexander Semin probably being closest), but with some promising young prospects and an array of promising draft picks through some good strategic management, the team is going to be built around speed and skill, a factor becoming more and more important in todays NHL.Crosby has so much talent, but he just lacks the desire Ovechkin has. When Ovechkin scores he jumps around and celebrates which is awesome, his one goal in life was to make the NHL, which he has done. My opinion is that Ovechkin loves to play the game more than Crosby, and anyway, Crosby cant hit, so naturally hes going to get picked on:
rookie19MemberYeah!!! What a game!!!
I agree Ryan, we definately out-hit them, which gave us the momentum we needed.
Rangers were full strength apart from Simon Glass and Simon Wilson I think, but they had recruited some pretty good european players for the game (mabye czechs?), so to be honest, this result is awesome, its really saying something about ice hockey here in dunedin.
Toby had an amazing game in goal, making some incredible stops, and definately earning the shutout, facing tough shots from the likes of Jamie Moore-Carter and some other big name players.
I think though, as ryan said, the difference was that we out-hit them early and kept the intensity through the entire game, and we are really starting to work well as a team!
Thanks to everyone who came to watch and support, having a good crowd really builds some excitement!!! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />
rookie19MemberYea im trying to convert the Crosby lovers to the dark side!!! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cool.gif" alt="” title=”Cool” /> And yes, i think the media has a lot to do with our impressions of players. As ice hockey is Canada’s game, I guess the belief is that their best player is better than the best player Russia can produce. That rivalry goes way back.
I just think Ovechkin has so much more talent and if he was with the penguins would play better than crosby if he was in washington. Theres just so many people making comparisons between the two players, I wondered what everyone thought?
Sorry if that came across as me telling Tom hes wrong, my bad. Hes right i guess when you look at Crosby on paper, Crosby puts up the numbers for sure. I think i simply like Ovy because of the fact that I like the faster flashy style of game the russian play. But then thats just my opinion.
Peace and Godbless Hockey,
STIFF <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />rookie19MemberCrosby is an amazing player, i wont argue with u on that, but i think he just does not have the flare and desire Ovechkin has.
Crosby’s team made the playoffs, Ovechkins didnt. Ovechkin really doesnt have backing on his team from anyone on the same level as him, whereas Crosby has the likes of Malkin, Staal, Recchi, Armstrong, and of course Gonchar (who is dynamo at the point providing Crosby with a large number of rebounds to pad the stats sheet).
They are both great players in their own way but sorry Tom, Ovechkin is the better player!!! Peace
rookie19MemberHaha, when i skate into a goalie it isnt really on purpose anyway, more due to lack of stopping ability, bloody inliners!!
Good to hear from goalie from cchurch, you got some serious skill dude, i know i couldnt beat you in that final game!!Peace
rookie19MemberHaha nice pic matt!!
Darcy sure is a strapping young chap.rookie19MemberYea i agree with Kyle, I love how the Sabres play iv been picking them all season, i think they can win it. Chris Drury, Danny Briere, Maxim Afinogenov, Jason Pominville, Derek Roy, just to name a few of the clutch players on their lineup. They have all scored big goals this season, briere especially. I just dont think any other team has enough speed and flare to match them for a whole game, especially how the nhl is emphasising speed now, and the fast players (EUROPEANS, SORRY RYAN) are starting to dominate!
I thin we will be looking at a Buffalo vs. Anaheim final, mabye san jose, they are starting to click also.
I predict Briere and Afinogenov to score some big goals like these goals from buffalo last year!! Check out goal #3 by Afinogenov, he is god!

rookie19MemberOr some of us could learn to shoot accurately, and we wouldnt have this problem! Wonder if neil knows it was me?? Given that im still alive, I guess he doesnt know yet.
rookie19Membero god…
Neil is going to murder me in my sleep… was nice knowing u guys haha.
rookie19MemberMichael, its good that you obviously take reffing/lining seriously and u are, from what i have seen; very good at it. However the aim of reffing is not to call everything that happens right to the book, but to let the game flow, while not letting it get out of hand. If every little thing had been called in that game, there would have basically been no game, with no momentum or flow, with all the stoppages. While more could have been called to prevent certain things happening, some things would have happened whether the refs cracked down or not, that is the game of hockey, and it will always be like this.
As we are all hockey players we all know how frustrating a referee that calls too much can be!! We have great refs here luckily, but speaking from experience in inline, there were some anal refs which almost tried to determine the game with their whistle. I urge no one to get like this, and i trust that no one will.
Is SNC at 9pm 2nite?? Wonder if Jenel is coaching, shes still injured right??
rookie19Memberthe email went to quite a few people, and i would have just rather that i didnt get it, ryan is a good mate of mine so yea… is he going to be disciplined or something??
rookie19MemberThat email was a little harsh, given the fact the christchurch team made it quite clear to us before the game that their only intention was to start a fight in the game (this may just have been a cover in case we beat them WHICH WE DID!!). Ryan simply didnt back down from their challenge, and although I dont agree with what happened after the game, the fact is, that in our building he wasnt going to let them walk all over us physically which I think they did all game.
Ryan was standing up for our team which deserves a bit of respect, but I partially agree with the fact that it may have been a little silly with kids watching.
I feel a lot of the christchurch players dont deserve to come back for future tournaments, I mean, a physical game is fine, but the cheapshots they were taking were complete bullshit. Blatant trips, spears (yes i have sore ribs) and cheapshots with obvious intent to injure were all they seemed to care about, though with most of them aparently still drunk, this may have fuelled things a little.I think the fight didnt need to happen and probably wouldnt have happened, but im sure u did notice that ryan walked away from confrontation before he was hit from behind. To be honest, in my opinion the cheapshots and foulplay were a far worse reflection on the game of hockey than the fight itself. To single out Ryan in an email for the world to see is probably not the fairest treatment, but i agree the end of the game did make a little bit of a mockery of a well fought tournament by all teams involved.
Anyway hope everyone still has the energy to go to SNC training 2nite!! Can anyone confirm that its on at 9pm? Also, is there anyone else that is playing for the Dunedin SNC apart from me and kyle?? (maby just me). Coz at this stage it doesnt seem like there will be many players for the team!!
Cu all 2nite!! And GO PHANTOMS (the Dunedin version)!!!
EASTON CUP CHAMPS 2007!!! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="” title=”Tongue” />
