Yeah well I’d rather not see someone start laying into another player when I could stop it myself rather than waiting for linesmen.
MichaelMemberHe also tried to tell me I wasn’t allowed to do that and that thats what I had linesmen for… LOL! I ain’t letting the linesmen have all the fun <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />
MichaelMemberwell I only just woke up… was so tired after that. defiantly a worth wild experience.
MichaelMemberwell if he played in that game he wont be wanting to play one with 4 periods for sure, it went on forever!
MichaelMember20mins stop time is fine, but 4 periods is way to much, I just reffed a 20min stop time game and its plenty of time, actual game time was about 2hours with grooms. I will not play more than 3 periods! (without dieing)
MichaelMemberI’m sweet for a ride now btw, luckly got work off at the last minute as well <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />
MichaelMemberI am in need of a ride.
MichaelMemberIm not playing any games on Sunday sadly. will be there for the cadbury cup match though.
MichaelMemberYeah thats what I want to try and avoid here, Thats why I’d like to see what level people are at with there PHP, PHP apps need to be build around some kind of framework “Zend” is an ok choice if we have php5 support, I develop my own as I go which is easy to use and learn. I also have a good structure for putting together large apps, If this is going to be worked on by multiple people at the same time, I suggest planning it first face to face.

It could be done as early as next week seeing as I have some time off at the moment also.
php would be the best to stick with for all the projects seeing as more people are familiar with it, and does hostgator support php5 now? My accounts always been php4, So I always code to php4 which is not hard and offers much the same stuff bar a few handy functions and a better object oriented way of coding.
I would like to know where people are at with there PHP and see if I can’t offer some advice or get some advice if thats the case, I would like for all of us to work via a Framework, I have my own which I’m developing but would require a little learning or we can look at something more set in stone.

Ajax is certainly a very handy thing to have tied in with a application, however an application should never be based around Ajax, rather enhanced by AJAX. Pages should be made to display the information without the need of any Ajax in the case of javascript not being available. I have a few techniques and can give some advice on what needs to be css/html wise to make this work.
[/quote:3gmrou9m]Also, When I first started the statistics app (before I got swapped with work) I drafted a database, so who ever wants to start developing that can grab it off me and ill explain some stuff about it if need be.

MichaelMemberyou’ll do fine.
MichaelMemberThanks Ryan, you pointed out some valid points <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />
The site is not really to be targeting Dunedin Locals but to be making our names known by a more “blog” type approach, we want to have people coming back and recommending the site for articles and ideas etc. But saying where based in Dunedin isn’t a bad idea.
Also I haven’t gone through for SEO yet so the title’s are all the same and I haven’t reviewed the tags yet as I was doing the PHP.
The preload is going into javascript, was just a quick fix to get the roll overs working so we could get the site up. Those images don’t load by them selves as they are rollovers so you have to prompt a load to stop any delay’s.
Edit: [quote:g8np165o]
Why are your customers as an H1? Shouldn’t you be pushing your own content instead of theirs? And where’s the H2s and H3s? Normal recommendation is to have H1 as your header, H2s for sub-headings, H3s for sub-headings of the H2s and so forth. Basically the stuff you want indexed the most should have the highest ranked heading, but you should still follow the general concept of headings flowing from one to another to keep search engines happy. Although there does seem to be some leeway on this (at least from Google anyway). There does seem to be some debate on this issue amongst SEO experts however, but the vague consensus is that following the logical flow is a good idea.It looks like you’ve got a bunch of pointless DIVs in there. If you choose outline block elements in the Firefox web developers toolbar you can see them quite clearly. Or at least I can’t see any use for them, but I could be wrong.[/quote:g8np165o]
I see your point, but the site doesn’t really have a main title on it, so would the clients name not be the title as that is the title of the item? Maybe H1 in the navigation and then h2 for clients names.
And in a way, there content is out content, if people find them, they find us <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/cheesy.gif" alt="” title=”Cheesy” />?
, Its not valid to have a div inside a list entry and the images don’t work properly as a background image anywhere in the list “i think”, this is the reason we had to use an image there sadly. I will look into it again though.
And the font was up in discussion, honestly we found that font was the best font to use, but I personally think it is to small now which is making it look funny and hard to read. Also as for using px for fonts, thats up to you. Our designer sets his line-heights manually and found using px still more useful than em. Its a debatable mater, but “Shouldn’t use them ever” is not correct.
BTW I don’t know where your looking but the site says 1.0 transitional from where I’m sitting?
Oh and gifs? why not use gifs? gifs are great for very small similar colour images, they produce a better quality smaller image. When you save for web you should always look at what an image would look like as a gif and what it would look like as a jpeg.
MichaelMemberThis is mainly to get google to re-index my site, but check it out any ways and let me know if you find any bugs.
