KyleMember
That’s alright. I’ve got new elbow pads. I’m well protected.
KyleMemberPah. Just providing you with a wee screen.
Anyway. With all respect, you’re not exactly firing rocket launchers <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif" alt="” title=”Wink” /> If you’d been James VL I would have been moving out of the way a bit quicker.
KyleMemberThat was a fairly decent practice last night. Feel like I’m starting to think where I should be on the ice at least a quarter of the time, which is an improvement.
Cheers to Stefan and Ryan for taking charge and running some stuff.
PS: I hate mouthguards. They’re uncomfortable, and I can’t communicate with my teammates.
KyleMemberMeh. I push buttons. What happens as a result, who can ever know?
KyleMemberWho do you email? sky@skytv.co.nz?
We should start a wee campaign. Get a bunch of people to email them and say that we’ll sign up for sky if they get some ice hockey.

Personally I’d rather go for three rinks as it would cut costs. However the advantage of having square (30×30 m) rinks is that it allows for setting up some quite funky plays, it would be very much like inline hockey but with a goal on the half-way line. Rectangular rinks don’t give as many options for passing as square rinks.[/quote:1tbxjv8j]I would have suggested three rinks, but to my knowledge we only have one set of boards for splitting up the rink. If there was an easy way to split it into three, yes, I’d go that way.

The surface is the worst thing about pond hockey, so I’d rather not replicate it! I played on some rather shocking outdoor rinks in Calgary and I wouldn’t recommend it. Snow is not a good thing when it comes to playing hockey <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt="” title=”Tongue” />[/quote:1tbxjv8j]
Well the dry grooms would take care of the snow.
"Ryan":1tbxjv8j wrote:[quote:1tbxjv8j]think we’d probably need to have a referee each game, but maybe not.[/quote:1tbxjv8j]Not much point really, teams should be able to ref themselves.[/quote:1tbxjv8j]
I was thinking our players might take a while to get used to the ‘absolutely no contact’ rule.. having a referee available might help with that.
Like you say, hopefully it wouldn’t be necessary.

It’d run as 24 sequential games, just rope teams in and they pay their money, play three games (or more) during the 24 hour period.[/quote:1tbxjv8j]Nice idea, I think if there were drop in times for anyone to turn up and play would be a good idea too. If it was advertised on the radio and what not it would be a good chance to introduce some newbies to the sport. It would be interesting seeing how many people you could to turn up at 3:30am though! I suspect numbers may run a little lean around then![/quote:1tbxjv8j]
Well you’d have some teams that were timetabled to play their games in that time. I think a lot of students and seniors would get into the idea of midnight hockey. If you had five teams, then you’d go A/B, C/D, A/E, B/C, E/D, A/C, B/D, E/C. that’s 11pm until 7am between five teams, no sequential games. You’d just timetable the seniors then, and that’s their part of the tournament.
KyleMemberProbably a few match penalties. They’re all recorded at 20 minutes, so if there was a scrap in a game between two players, that’s 20 minutes each side. Quick way to rule your team out of winning the friendship games, no matter how many goals you score.
KyleMemberNot even a “Kyle, your ideas suck”?
Man.
KyleMemberHaha. Look at the photo you’re posting here on the forum.
So. Not. Cool.
KyleMemberI suspect (hope) this will be the last night we’ll have no coach. Hopefully Jenel will be here post-Easter and have heaps of stuff to teach us.
But maybe for tonight rather than it just falling down into a game people should think of a few things that a bunch of us need to work on. I was thinking skating edges, and maybe reverse crossovers. I know backwards skating was on Phil’s list of things that he thinks people here typically need to work on more.
KyleMemberI checked the booking when I was at the rink last night.
SNC practice is indeed on tonight 9pm.
KyleMemberRyan,
I’m not sure who did them, but the friendship stats – the last page with the penalty minutes, the totals are of days 1 and 2 only, not the whole row.
KyleMemberOoh, titchy.
Come on, own up. You went to ask him and he totally snubbed you. He was giving you the ‘new ref’ cold shoulder.
KyleMemberI need some elbow pads! If they’re a decent size.
My reason is I haven’t owned any elbow pads for a year and a half, and my credit card is $200 over its limit after buying a helmet for refereeing yesterday.
And, y’know, I’m a good guy.
KyleMemberHere’s another one. A little obscure perhaps.
Rule 554B – Displacing the goal frame. Four times are listed when this could happen – a – normally, b, last 2 minutes, c, in a penalty shot situation, and d, when the goalkeeper isn’t on the ice.
for the first three the word ‘deliberately’ is used in relation to the displacement. In d, when the goalkeeper isn’t on the ice, deliberately isn’t used at all. So presumably, any displacement of the goal by the defending team, even by accident, leads to a goal? Seems a little harsh.
