Ryan,
[/quote:p8r8p7ar]told ya <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” /> should have bet some money!
KyleMember(Fortunately) I won’t be at practice tonight. I’d love to be there to receive my beatings, but parental duties call. You’ll have to catch me next week.
Now we’ve scared the Canadian off by being weird… what’s next?
KyleMemberI’d bet money the other way around. Nationals schedule is set, someone forgot to either tell the DIHA, or tell beginners, that their time is taken.
People will have planes and trips back to Chch set on that schedule. Beginners will move.
KyleMemberDon’t break them.
I understand they’re all completely knackered after several days of spending hours and hours on the ice.
KyleMemberSomeone needs to move beginners back an hour, that’s fairly simple.
And next week it’ll need to be cancelled, as the SNC final doesn’t finish until 8pm.
KyleMemberYeah, I don’t mind the deal the figure skaters have. It’s not a popular time that they take up, and it would be difficult for figure skaters to get very good if they had to pay $150/hour like we do, because that would require 20 people on the ice every hour.
But it’s important that hockey teams keep in mind that those times are available, it’s a definite agreement that use of the ice that pays the full price takes priority over things that don’t. The figure skaters won’t like being bumped, but hockey pays its way, and the financial health of the rink is very important for all of us.
KyleMemberHi Jane,
Ryan has added a post about you doing another registration this Sunday 5:30 – 7:00. National games don’t finish until 6:30, and then there’s an awards ceremony.
I’m not sure what’s happening with beginners, if it’s been cancelled, or bumped to 7pm, but I can’t imagine there’ll be any of our players around at 5:30.
You’d be better going down tonight early and hitting up the midgets as they come off the ice, juniors before they go on, and then intermediates and prems. Or next week.
KyleMemberThat’s Neil’s problem!

Just thought I’d let you know the DISC has all weekday mornings booked up from 6-9, and then Morgan seems to have the ice to herself, and 7-10 on Saturday. Not too sure about Sunday though, Icentric has the ice from 9-11.
Unfortunately ice time is hard to come by on a busy rink!
[/quote:jpn28lbs]Neil will bump some figure skating for ice hockey. Figure skaters don’t pay the full ice time, ice hockey almost always has to.
KyleMemberRyan. How do you move a news item off the home page? The list of items there is really long, as some of it isn’t so much news anymore, as history.
Move it to the administration forum, news archive?
KyleMemberHey,
Neither Ryan or I are the definitive on the subject, but we can help point you in the right direction.
I think schools have a practice or two before the Dunedin high schools tournament starts. That’s not much I know.
If schools wanted more practices – regularly throughout the year, or in bulk some time, then I’m sure that would be possible. Before the high schools competition starts, Wednesday afternoons are available. Some mornings before school would be available, and there’s time on weekends – mornings and evenings. The school should talk to rink management about time.
You might also want to look at coaching, in which case your school should really talk to Coach Bode.
Also, while it doesn’t help the high school team directly, if all your players came along to Thursday night midget and junior practices, they’d all learn these skills and be able to take them out on the ice for their high school team. I know a bunch of them already are, and they’ll be noticing the difference.
KyleMemberI’d be keen, but my life is terribly difficult to organise around.
You’re a long way out from when it starts. I’d recommend organising the teams the week before, so you get as little as possible late people messing it up. So 4th September or something. Maybe have another registration 2 September, and email people who haven’t signed up so far?
Last night for Tuesday prem series is next week. If you give me some forms I’ll take them along and hit them all up to sign up. There’s a couple of people there who aren’t on your list who would be good to get.
KyleMemberSharks went six up last night (umm… best of 13?), as Jets lost a 3-1 lead to finish up… 4-6? or 4-7, I can’t remember.
Damien Watson was the main destroyer for the Jets, with a couple of goals and an assist. Mike Sam and Jacques Kemp did the damage for the Sharks however, making new goalie to the series, Tony Pasco, struggle in the last period. Jets started to lose battles to win the puck, and the defense around the net fell off late.
Game got a bit fired up early in the 3rd, with some big hits, but settled down, and nothing too major happened penalty-wise. Pretty good game overall.
My fellow officials wimped out on our plan to ‘split the game refereeing’, and left me with the stripes all game. Blah.
KyleMemberJane doesn’t look like the image that’s beside her posts. She hardly ever brings her violin to ice hockey practice these days.
KyleMemberwarm room I think.
