[/quote:2thbrgc0]Yeah you probably should. Does the DIHA run adverts anywhere else in anything it does?
KyleMemberWhere’s an article you wrote recently…?
KyleMemberI suddenly find myself free tonight until 9pm. Crazy. Might come play some hockey <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt="” title=”Smiley” />

I would think the only problem would be with stopping, as apparently he does them REALLY sharp.
[/quote:1wt9zne5]I’ve had my skates done that way once at SK8 as well. I was terrified once I got on the ice that night. I was lining and I’d circle the puck drop in order to get into position, rather than, y’know, stop. Note to self – Ryan Wick sharpens skates way different from Stefan! Once I’d refereed a couple of games and softened them a bit they were good though.
KyleMemberI presume a roof is required for IIHF standards. Cause a blizzard would make an ice hockey world champs real interesting.
KyleMemberActually it got me wondering which rinks in NZ are made to IIHF standards. I know ours is. I presume Paradise in Auckland is, as the a couple of years ago we hosted IIHF mens when the Ice Blacks got pounded. Are there any others?
KyleMemberThat blog posting is actually quite misleading – the IIHF rules on rink sizes aren’t changing, and our rink will continue to be the correct size.
What the IIHF has decided, is to keep things exactly the same as the status quo. Currently Canadian and US rinks tend to be slightly narrower. The question was whether IIHF events held in those two countries should be required to be on full size rinks. This would require any rinks hosting those champs to restructure their ice and move seats etc.
They decided not to. However the ruling only applies to those two countries. IIHF events everywhere else will still be held on IIHF sized rinks.
They also decided to retain the smaller neutral zone that you see in North America.

KyleMemberPersonally I don’t mind if they’re not on the web site. But as you note, if they’re not on the web site, and the club doesn’t have a system for contacting players… then how will anyone know?
And even if players did get to find out by informal means… that won’t help new prospects and people who just turn up and want to play. In the last year that’s ranged all the way from random beginners arriving, to Jacques Kemp who fronted up at the rink one Sunday night.
KyleMemberCool.
There’s some timetable changes to keep the website up-to-date.
Sunday beginners is finished for the year, starts again 3rd Sunday in January.
Tuesday night practice which was Thursday night practice is now back to Thursday night practice. Jackie did mention a time, but I can’t remember what it was. 7 or 8?
KyleMemberHey Ryan,
I’d try and fix this, but I’m not sure where the documents are and what you have.
The links on the front page to southern documents – junior midget etc reports. The Junior report links to the midgets one, the 2nd one links to the junior one.
Interesting to read either way!
KyleMemberUmm. I think it’s passed my ‘keep this for two weeks in case anyone wants it’ time limit, and been wiped over by some movie. Sorry.
KyleMemberA computerised booking system for the rink which could be viewed over the internet would be wonderful.
Until the rink moves on from doing its booking in a paper diary however…
Ryan Hellyer can only work with the information that he’s given on the web site, if people change times and don’t tell him or post it, then he, and everyone else who gets their information from the web site and forum, won’t know.
I’m not sure how many times he has to say “people need to tell me when they’re changing things” before it gets through.
I would have been there last night if anyone had told me that Tuesday night was permanent.
KyleMember"rookie#19":2ukgjao8 wrote:Dudes, dunno where the fact are coming from but before stuff is confirmed on here you should check it somehow…Training is on tonight at 7pm not thursday, and a lot of people rely on the website to get practice times and they think times have changed, and may not turn up tonight.
[/quote:2ukgjao8]I suspect Ryan Hellyer got that from here:

Which is where I got it from as well. When did it go from two practices on Tuesday to permanent change, and why didn’t anyone say?
"rookie#19":2ukgjao8 wrote:Sorry that sounds kinda blatant, but its just everyone texts me and ryan confused as about wen trainings and games are, so would be nice for people to know the right info ay.
[/quote:2ukgjao8]Given where the information came from, I’m not sure you’re in a position to complain Stefan!
KyleMemberEven if Stefan has booked the ice, and the mistake is with the rink, ice hockey should give up the time. The practice on Wednesday night is important for their show, it’s their biggest event of the year, and ice hockey should just be gracious about it and not play what is essentially a game of pickup hockey.
And Neil would give them the time anyway.
It might be available later that night – 8.30 or something? They’re advertising their practice as 6 – 8.
KyleMemberShapped must be some sorta Canadian spelling <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif" alt="” title=”Wink” />
