[/quote:omruf5kq]Yeah we need a puck solution. SK8 just got an order in of about 100 pucks including some strange white and pink pucks. I think they sell for about $3.50.
Maybe we could figure out a way to fund new pucks for the club and use the new ones on the ice a retire the old pucks to the gallery.
JoeMemberHans has ordered a coin-operated box that will control the lights. It should be installed in a couple of weeks.
The current net won’t last long, we’ll need a real one up there soon.
Here’s some pictures to show you what it is looking like so far.

So, does anybody have a working scanner?
JoeMemberIt takes time but I’m willing to invest.
First tip, start sniffing around the medical school.JoeMember"Chris":1s1ct054 wrote:My scanner is, for some strange reason, unwilling to email it to me. It’s having issues, and I can’t find my usb scanner
[/quote:1s1ct054]Hey Tort Boy,
Sue the bastard that sold it to you. And the flunky that imported it. And the manufacturer.
ODT can do a story about your legal success and we can copy and paste it here. Impunity!JoeMemberI have negative fitness, do I qualify for time travel. Maybe Skynet can work this out for us.
JoeMember(Yeah I was just ball-parking on those seats, they are all sold-out in San Jose anyway. Those seats that the kids were in are season’s pass holders seats. the Tech industry in San Jose buys up most of the seats as corporate perks.
The face value of the equivalent to those seats in Toronto is about $350 Cdn but of course they aren’t for sale either.
In Vancouver the face value would be about $225 Cdn.Some rinks are empty though. New Jersey can’t even sell-out play-off games. (Kyle you should have taken the train to Jersey) Nashville is empty. About 7 years ago I was in Chicago and I bought a $10 seat in the rafters and then helped myself to all the empty seats at rink level. I’m guessing there were about 7 or 8 thousand fans at the game that night.
The Islanders also rank low on attendance.
Montreal and Toronto are always at the top of the list for attendance and the seats are very expensive. There are life-long Toronto Maple Leaf fans that live in Toronto and have never been to a game.)
back to the topic at hand…
Anyone else have an opinion?I can just imagine the chants: Go DiHCs GO! Go DiHCs GO!
Maybe we could re-arrange the poll to go by names and colours separately.
I didn’t pay too much attention to the specific logo because I’m imagining that the order of choosing would be:1) Name
2) Colour
3) Logo
4) Font
5) Jersey styleOr something like that anyway.
Go Dragons
Go Thunder
Go Miners
Go DiHCsIf the name selected is the Dragons do we nickname the stadium the cave?
Or how about the miners playing at the pit?
And the Thunder playing at the shelter.
I’m leaving the last one alone.JoeMemberI should mention that my son Paul (Pauly) put in two days of labour down at the shooting gallery too.
We did a little shooting yesterday and used both real pucks and in-line pucks. It’s a good combination. We might have to figure out a way to make more pucks are available (maybe have a bag of the old worn out pucks that you can borrow/sign out) so that shooters don’t spend all of their time chasing pucks.
We’re not finished yet, there are still some things that need work but it is usable now. In particular we’re going to add more netting behind the net so if you miss on you top shelf shot the puck won’t go behind the dasher boards. The boards would not hold up to repeated climbing over them to fetch your pucks.
JoeMemberSharkie, Sharkie, Sharkie….

The sharks sell a kajillion of these little dolls. These kids are sitting in $150 dollar seats. (minimum)
I looked at that logo page you posted Ryan and I like your concepts much better than 90% of the cheesy crap out there. Too many clubs were hoping to cash out on merchandise by appealing to kids like the ones in the picture above — here in Dunedin you need not concern yourself with mass-merchandising but I do think you may be able to sell 50 or 60 jerseys a year to tourists. I like Hockey Club Dunedin a lot as a concept and I like the colour combination but I think the specific colours need to be tweaked a bit.
Again, good work
JoeMemberOK I give up, what’s a jug cord? And what or who is an Azzy77?
And I hate to break it to you Kiwis but ‘Fajitas’ is American for pretenscious fake Mexican food. And Canadians know nothing about real Mexican food. There is zero decent Mexican food in Canada. I know this all too well.
JoeMemberHey those are really cool ideas Ryan. I actually like all of them. Were you up all night working on them?
Didn’t Steve mention that we have a graphic artist who will do a custom logo for free?I’m going to have to think about it before I fill out the poll but good job. I have to admit I’m a bit tired of the animal names. It became the new standard when San Jose made millions off of the shark franchise, it surprised me the universal appeal of that whole gag. In North America I see Shark jerseys all over the place and I guess every other team wanted in on the cash cow. (ex: Vancouver grizzlies…)
Is Dunedin Dragons too similar to the Canterbury Red Devils? I like the alliteration too.`
JoeMemberPosting from Canada eh? Is it possible to narrow it down? Dang Canada is a big country. Can you tell where in Canada the IP is based?
JoeMemberShoes are the way to go. Fancy that. Just take an old stick and cut it shorter so the basic physics are the same.
I spent another day working on the gallery with Hans. We got a lot done today. And James is almost finished with reinforcing the dasher boards.
It should be fully functional soon. It’s not a big space, it will probably feel quite full with 4 people shooting and it will take some effort to make sure you don’t drill your shooting buddy. Unless you want to drill your shooting buddy.JoeMember"Azzy77":32x779ph wrote:This is a little confusing because Global moderator Joe, put a post about this in another thread.
[/quote:32x779ph]How did I do that? Multi-tasking I guess. While I was posting here I was also doing my housework and wouldn’t you know it I put my dress in the dishwasher. I’m back to uni-tasking for now.
