I’ve been down at the rink the last couple of days helping Hans with the shooting gallery.  We have three banks of lights installed and should have all the netting done by some time tomorrow.  James Van L. is doing the reinforcing of the boards and he started on that today as well.  It shouldn’t be to much longer and the gallery will be operational.  I think it’s going to be a real asset to the club and I’m looking forward to using it myself.

Are there skates to be borrowed (that won’t kill my feet)?

I’d like to give the in-line gag a try.  Do I wear a dress?

Heck, I might even try KFC.

    Paul accepts milk.

Pat likes when his dad nets the puck.

Johnny only takes cash.  Try cash and the mocking will end.

It’s all in your hands now Azzy.

Yeah I have a bunch of pics of him, he was on the ice every other shift.
Italian eh?  I was trying to figure out where he was from during the game.

Wait, are you the goalie I talked to during the Stampede game #1? (I was shooting pics from the penalty box)

You must be.  Yeah, you’re a good goalie.
But Azzy gives me fresh farm milk…

(Azzy, I have no clue when we play again but I know Gore must be soon as well as a home stint against Q’town.)

Are the Phantoms up against you on Tuesday?

Did you see that photo series I posted of the Stampede player being denied on the doorstep by Ericson? I felt the Stampede players pain.  Deeply.

Joe would you like to tell our goalie friend how many games you have lost because of having no Goalie to give him an idea, of how many shots he will be facing.

The problem is they merged the SNC and Premier practise as well, which could potentially mean 4 Goalies turning up on any given night, well that is nice for the players, that means a lot of rotation in 1 hour session, meaning not much continuity for the goalie.

I blame the Ducks defense for the low numbers of shots on net.  Sometimes I have to take extreme measures just make sure our guest goalies stay awake during games.  Know what I mean?  I’m not coughing up that puck in the slot due to lack of skill — I had your interest in mind.  And I agree, 2 goalies are enough for the prem practices.

Are you traveling to Gore with us? Do you like long walks in the rain too?

I think Otepoti (Dunedin) would be the Maori Word of choice if that was a road we wished to go down.

I’m pretty sure Pat wasn’t deliberately suggesting being called the ‘Pancreas Attack’ but you never know he does have a slightly off-kilt sense of humour.  Pat?

    How about the Dunedin Skynet?

The Beasts may be interested. We play in the Southern Ice Hockey League Senior Non-Checking grade and were playing in the Dunedin Ice Hockey League till the end of the season (week or so ago). We’ll also be playing lots of non-official games throughtout the year probably. I’ll send a link to your post to Mark Hareb (Beasts team manager).

    Ryan,

There is always a need for goalies!  The Ducks SNC has only played 1/2 of our games with a netminder.  There is some confusion over whether the Premier goalies can (or want) to play so there is a possibility of ice time playing with =us as well.

Hey Ryan, do the Ducks play the Beasts as part of the SNC series?

    Hi Guys

As Pat said, he is my son and right now he is way deep into brainstorming over the new jerseys.

Pat is learning about Maori history at school (it’s all new to us) and finds it quite fascinating. Having said that, we know very little about Maori culture, history and art much less the requirements involved in using Maori style art and graphics on sports jerseys.

In the Northwest of the United States and Canada it is quite common to make art references to Haida culture. The Haida are a coastal tribe of First Nations people (that’s the official designation) that developed a fairly advanced and highly abstract art from that was revitalized in the middle of the last century.  Our local bicycle club used Haida art on our race jerseys (a salmon) and a race team in Vancouver does as well.  Also, the Canucks logo was designed by First Nations artist and is a stylized Orca based loosely on traditional Haida form and structure.

The shape of the dorsal fin and the stylized teeth in the above Canucks logo are Haida influenced as is the overall shape of the orca.

Steve-O, after the seventh goal.  Boy did his team ever let him down in that first game.
    Steve-O needs a hug.
