Yeah Soper, that’s the guy.  Give the monster some ice time. The dude could be a SoperStar for the Stampede. The Red Devils would get to know him fast and hard.

We need to make support signs for  the  local boys.

Players can help their teammates from the bench by telling them if they have “time” but that’s very different from parents yelling at their kids.  Parent fights are not unheard of in North American hockey.

Check out this overzealous hockey dad.

If it’s like last night, I recommend you watch the warmup really closely then. And the bit where he comes in and out of the changing rooms. And then sit near the bench to watch the games.

Yup.  That pretty much says it all.  I’m guessing the coach sticks with his 2 line rotation.  We should sit behind the Stampede bench and chant STEFAN STEFAN STEFAN  all night.  He also didn’t play Ryan our junior and barely used that monster defence man from Gore.  That guy is gargantuan.  His head is a virtual planetoid. I would like to see him introduce himself to the Red Devil forwards.

I agree with Kyle.. the final edit is perfect.  Naming the coach is fine and as much as calling him an ‘ass’ was probably complimentary it was nevertheless inappropriate for the forum and it’s intended audience and utility.

Well I know which of the two coaches I’d rather make an ass of myself with.  There was a girl power brigade at the game last night and I’m guessing they all went on to have a pretty wild night. The Stampede, on the other hand, should have gone to bed early.

Ryan (the B and B Ryan) sure is passionate about hockey and I think that’s a good thing but it probably isn’t best for the overall utility of the forum to refer to coaches- much less our home team coach — as an ass in a public forum so I think the edit was probably the right thing to do.
However, because I’m in the admin forum with a small audience I would like to say emphatically:

THE STAMPEDE COACH IS AN ASS[/color:wkshkby5][/font:wkshkby5]

I spent large parts of the game in the penalty box and I was not impressed.

Maybe we should ask  Ryan to write a regular editorial column for the forum — he could submit a hockey rant and someone here could edit it and publish it.  I think that would be quite interesting.

Kyle I think you were very diplomatic and understated in your assessment of the Stampede coaching and the game that the team played. Canterbury buried the Stampede and the coach just kept using  the same players over and over again. Given that the 2 lines that he used all night was basically the national team  I think that Queenstown’s reign as the center of the NZ hockey universe is coming to an end.  The three juniors playing for the Red Devils ran all over the Stampede and the Stampede coach didn’t give his juniors any ice time at all.
The only thing I would disagree with you is on hitting.  Did the Stampede make a single decent hit?  All I saw were little love pushes. You can’t win hockey with love pushes. I’ll post some love push pictures as soon as I finish sorting them.

At practice this week we divided up into teams and had a skills competition.  Some won, some lost.
Zanzee, the birthday girl,  was on the winning team…but what about these other guys?
Sad faces…

The winning team – and all the goalies – get a soda pop.

What can be said about this goalie? I think the body language says it all:
