Lets just see how we fair in the game on Sunday against the mock A grade team. We can make the tough decisions after that.

    Here’s my input anyway.

A few of us have played in the A grade last season and lets face it, most of us were out played and out classed in the games and generally found it tough to keep up with the pace of the games. And alot of the ppl who played in the A grade last year are probably still eligible for the B grade too as they are in between grades in ability (with the exception of Jason, Ryan and Mike). However the team as a whole will not be able to play together in the B grade (as with last season as Ryan and Nick where dropped to bring the team standard down) as we will (probably) over power anybody we play against so B grade as a whole is not an option.

If the whole team goes up and we play in the A grade it will be like Southern League, where we will (probably) not win but still play quite well and also get better as we go along (which is fine). This could lead to other teams complaining that we are not good enough and we are bringing the standard down etc… Also as we have about 15 players on the team there is little chance of bringing in players who already play in the A grade to help out and raise the standard of play (personally I dont want this to happen as I like the team the way it is now and everyone on it – we are the beasts).

Splitting the team between the grades and having two teams is also an option but again I would like to see us stick together as a team. It would also involve bringing in more ringers to play which we could probably do as I think quite alot of ppl would like to play for us. However I dont think anybody wants to be in charge of managing and orgnaising another team as Mark is already pulling his hair out with this one. (also we dont have enough jerseys for two beasts teams  <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif" alt=";)” title=”Wink” />)

    I’m tired of writing

Abridged version/ Summary….We all move up to A grade and screw anyone who trys to stop us!

This is an email from Clive murphy Re: our games in CHCH

    [quote:1oe0b4va]

    Hi Andy and Mark,

I have heard back from Jeanne at the Alpine and have done the following,

Booked Friday Night 28th Sept from 10.30pm-11.45 pm for a game against the Aardwolfs

Booked Saturday Night 29th Sept from 10.30-11.45 pm for a game against a social SNC side.

I will organise these teams to play you.

Our Aardwolfs club already has time booked on Saturday the 29th from 4.30-5.45pm we will be having a full Club practice. We would like to invite your team to train with us at no cost. We have between 10 and 30 people on the ice for our practices and hope that you would like to join us. We have a mixture of skills between Superleague and absolute beginners trying hockey for the first time; we usually split into skill levels for drills. The session is usually taken by qualified coaches; recently we have had Janos Kaszala, the top scorer in the Superleague take them, we hope he is available for this one. We usually head down to a local Tavern for a pub meal and drinks after.

Ice time available outside those times for the weekend:

    5.45 – 7.15pm on Friday

    7 – 9.45am Sat & Sunday

    4.30 – 5.45pm Sunday

Costs; the ice time costs $220 per hour, I have booked 1.25 hours for both of the evening games, this comes to $275

For this level of game we would normally run a 2 man referee system and pay the reff’s $15 each.

We pay our score bench $10.00

This means a game costs $315.00 we are happy to pay half that $157.50

We will be charging our players $16 each for a game. We usually run a bench of 10 plus a goalie for these games.

Cancellation: Should, for what ever reason, you need to cancel out of your trip and the ice time, we are obliged to give 5 weeks notice of cancellation of ice time, or we are charged for the ice time anyway.

As we already have a practice booked over that weekend our club wouldn’t be able to use it.

So if you cancelled within that 5 week time we would expect you to cover all the ice costs.

However I don’t expect you to cancel!!!! and look forward to meeting you on our Southern Migration in August.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

    Cheers

    Clive

could someone tell me what dates they are exactly, so i can go about getting time off…. Im gonna try really hard <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />
    [/quote:wyyculrw]

The date is as my post above, the end of september, which is 28th Friday, 29th Saturday and 30th Sunday. We will be playing probably on the Friday night late and the Saturday night late…after 10 p.m. I have said these dates as it is far enough away that it wont interfere with, for one, my holidays as I seem to have taken it upon myself to organise the trip and also the DIHL and the 5 games series that is potentially coming up and also uni games etc. Plenty of time to organise days off from work and check your schedules and account for anything that is in your diaries.

Micheal I dont know if we can get back Sunday morning it depends on whether you want to stay and play on Saturday and then go early on Sunday and be back in Dunedin for whatever time or alternatively just play on Friday and come back Saturday…its up to you but I’m sure we can work something out

Hey Andy, I don’t get your signature…. doesn’t it say, “Our day came” rather than “Our day will come”? (which is what I assume it actually says, since that’s the phrase and I speak Gaelic and Swahili in equal measures <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/tongue.gif" alt=":P” title=”Tongue” />)
    [/quote:wyyculrw]

Tiocfaidh is the future tense of “tar”, the irish for “to come”. The phrase our day came would be “Thainig ar la” ignoring all the accents over the vowels

    Hey Guys

I realised I am doubled booked that weekend of the 8th September as I am probably heading to Thailand for two weeks. So I’d like to push the trip to christchurch back to September 27th to 29th. Is this alrite for everyone or not?

We will go upto chch on the weekend of Sept 8th…decision made

Anyone who is available to go that weekend and play post here

From reading Ryans blurb the weekend of sept 8th 9th will be a good weekend to go up to play and also watch the NZIHL game if CHCH win. Also as the Aardwolfs are coming down in august 13th 20th there is not point in us going up at that time.

    Get that weekend free.
