Anyone for transformers?
ChrisMember13th of sept, absolute latest
ChrisMemberIn the last six weeks I have racked up $400ish in parking and speeding fines. Fucking government/local council.
Anywho, yes I would prefer to travel in convoy, although if the team thinks otherwise I finish class at 12pm.
Mark, the van will be more fuel efficient if we can take it, simply because even an inefficient van is more efficient than two cars.
One additional point to note is that Daria wants a ride up to CHCH. essentially, if we take the van, we have 15 places available, and 16 people wanting to go (14 players + mike’s woman + russian tennis player)
If we take two cars, however, we have 16 people and 16 seats. Unless, of course, someone wants to squeeze into the middle seat in the back of my car (not recommended for comfort purposes on a long drive)
Just as a quick side note, the cost difference [b:2468yuz0]per person[/b:2468yuz0] between taking the one-van-two-cars approach and the four-cars approach is likely to be in the region of a few dollars.
Also bear in mind that we need all the storage space we can get (four cars is bigger than two and a van) because we will have to carry clothes etc. as well as hockey gear. even if everyone packs light, that’s still fifteen bags of personal gear plus whatever the hell daria is bringing.
So, yes, bottom line, it doesn’t really matter what type of vehicle we take, so long as we fill up whatever it is.
(btw, I’ve figured out how to bill this properly now, so there won’t be any shenanigans – Mike and Ryan’s bill will just be double everyone else’s to cover their guests) (it also works out well cheap)
anyways, I’ve lost what i started writing about, but yeah, GO CANUCKS…

Isn’t that like a muslim becoming a Jew?
[/quote:10pzg6yo]Yeah Stefan is paying him out big time lol.
And for the other comment about the Beasts and what not, that’s fine, but it seems there is a hell of a lot more favortism going towards the Beasts players then the other players in this. If your saying that those 2 can play in the B-grade, then why not allow an A-Grade of that level to play on each of the teams if you think it will develope their level of play for the B-Grade guys? That’s all I’m saying. I think it will help the level of play for all the players, not just the Beasts ones. Spread the wealth is what I say!
By the way, this is just an opinion.
[/quote:10pzg6yo]Dude, I don’t now where you get this impression that there’s some sort of favouritism going on. The fact of the matter is that last DIHL the Beasts were the top B-Grade team, meaning that our players range from [b:10pzg6yo]the top of the B-Grade to the bottom of the A-Grade[/b:10pzg6yo], which implies, ipso facto, that if you are looking for the set of A-Grade players most eligible to play in the B-Grade, the natural place to look is at the Beasts team.

LOL!
Ok sweet, I’m sure I can handle that
P.S. Check your email
ChrisMemberTwo questions:
1) What is the story with managers/captains? Are they assigned? do the teams sort them out themselves?
2) Why does the roster say the first game was two days ago?ChrisMembercan’t you do a search for greame’s username and the day on which it was posted? or does it not work that way?
ChrisMember"Jack":1e8cwpuf wrote:Unfortunately, as no one has yet to re-annouce when the games are gonna b, and it seems no one is driving up on Saturday, I still wont be able to come, as I will be in no shape to drive on saturday. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif" alt="” title=”Sad” />[/quote:1e8cwpuf]
Uh, dude, there’s a reason why Mark, Ryan and I keep those stickied posts updated. If you have a look here[/url:1e8cwpuf], you’ll see all the times laid out for you in a neat little table.
Additionally, for all those confused about what time we need to leave on friday, Jane and Julian (and possibly others) have class til 3, so it’s probably best that we try and head off as close to 3 as we can.
If we left at 3, we’d be there by 8-ish, which is probably the latest we’d want to be there for check-in and whatnot (big thanks to Andy for organising the accommodation – primo!)
Time to really get some transport sorted. Mike is taking his own car up with his GF, so that’s all good.
I’m taking my car up with the trailer on for gear. Could [b:1e8cwpuf]three[/b:1e8cwpuf] volunteers please reply saying you’re coming with me, then we’ll fill up the next car and so on.
If you come with me, you may end up looking like this:
P.S. I’m going to start adding in projected fuel costs. We’re going to be taking 4 cars unless we can get a van. We still have 14 people going up because Ryan is pimping some hoes up there. I’m estimating about $200 fuel for me for the whole weekend (up, back and around CHCH with a trailer on), and I’d guess or the others it would be about $140ish, so that’s 3×140 + 200 = 620. $620/14 = $44.28 each. These costs are hopefully on the generous side, based on approximately $1.50 per litre of fuel (with a fuel coupon from a supermarket) and 362km from Dunedin to CHCH. When final costs are known (after the trip) these will replace the budgeted costs, so we should be OK.
P.P.S. I’ll also add in the accommodation costs for those who’re staying with the team, so you can start budgeting for the whole trip. I haven’t yet checked with Andy, but if he’s will to pay for it, I’ll just credit the amount to his team account (less money changes hands, it’s more efficient). Andy – if that’s not cool that’s sweet as too, just let me know, si?
Groovy
ChrisMemberClearly you checked the mod logs.
Have you had a squiz at the raw MySQL data?

Wouldn’t that have been pretty cold?[/quote:2zp7r7ki]Nah, remember we did the same with the Beasts team last we were in Alex? It wasn’t too cold at all. In fact it was probably warmer than on the rink here in Dunedin as the sun was blazing away. Vicky has some nice photos she took of you and Mark in action that day, I’ll ask her to post them here.
Ryan,

I hope they don’t look too ‘posed’. I was a little worried about the angles, to be honest, but I understand vicky has some experience in taking those sorts of photos, and has taken action shots of Mark before.

[/quote:oj4forl8]She’s not an “adult beginner” by any stretch of the imagination! Y’know, wink wink, nudge nudge, nod’s as good as a wink to a seasoned campaigner and whatnot
ChrisMemberEven if we could get two teams together for the A-grade, that would be better than nothing.
Or, as stefan suggested, I’d be happy to combine the grades (so long as I get my money back! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/wink.gif" alt="” title=”Wink” />)
ChrisMemberIn the spirit of getting our shit together, could everybody who plans to go up seperately (i.e. not organised by me) in their own car/by bus/with a girlfriend/on horseback please post here so that I can start sorting out prices for transport and whatnot.
