To be honest ryan, and this isn’t your fault in any, but once again the information flow from organizers to players is the wrong side of shocking.

There is no way for players to get information other than dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi

I don’t know who is responsible for this kind of thing, but whoever’s being so slow at getting important information to you is really fucking players over.

Unless you check the website as often as I do, which from the stats is pretty often, there’s no way a last-minute notification is going to cut it.

I’d go so far as to suggest an investment in a SMS-system, the like of which is employed by Video Ezy, medical practices and, most recently, my hairdresser. They are not particularly expensive to run, and people, kids especially, generally respond well to text information.

As a diatribe would indeed be my usual style, you’ll appreciate that it takes an enormous degree of despair on my part to give up such a golden opportunity to really lay into some top-quality stupidity.

In this instance, it would be like showing a camel in a wetsuit a picture of itself and insisting it understand how ridiculous it looks. Sometimes, you just have to shake your head and laugh it off.

Having never scored an own goal, I’d love to know where I get this reputation from.

If, however, you were to predict that I will break a teammate’s arm immediately before the game, you might be onto something…

    P.S. Any stats yet?

That doesn’t work Jane, because I’m taking the gear. Take half a second and think about it.

If you’re not interested in saving money Jane, perhaps you should first think about putting some money into the account, seeing as you owe about $150 at this stage.

Also, bear in mind that there was a reason we didn’t want so many people leaving later.

    Dunedin – Christchurch:
    367 km
    229 miles
5 hours 14 minutes driving time at avg 70km/h

Suppose you leave at 4.15, that means you don’t get there ’til 9.30. We’re playing at 10.30. In an unfamiliar rink, you want to be there 1/2 an hour early at least.

That leaves a window of [b:2ybws7ih]30 minutes[/b:2ybws7ih] for getting to the backpackers, which you may or may not want to do first, and finding the rink [b:2ybws7ih]and[/b:2ybws7ih] any unforeseen contingencies such as being stopped for roadworks or a crash blocking the road.

30 minutes is a very small margin of error. If three cars leave later, then the majority of our team is at risk of not making the game. By having two cars leave earlier, we get the majority of our team up there in time to play no matter what happens.

Point: having three cars leaving later is stupid, when only about 5 people actually need to leave that late.

Neil can’t leave till after 2pm as well.  Chris don’t worry about it dude every1 can just pile together petrol receipts afterwards. There is enough money in the account to pay for ice time and thats all that needs to be paid, until we get back. The trip will just work out slightly more expensive thats all.
    [/quote:17idz0sy]

I’m not doing this for my own benefit. I can afford to drive to christchurch and back every day if I wanted to. But some of the team don’t have that money to spare, and doing things in the most economically efficient way possible benefits everybody.

It really shouldn’t be that hard to get everyone up to Christchurch and back in a safe and affordable manner.

That brings me to my second point. We should be mindful of the fact that all cars are not created equal in terms of safety measures. This is a very good reason for taking, for example, Ryan’s BMW, which will incorporate a far greater number of active and passive safety measures than many other cars, and those measures will be more effectively designed and implemented. It would really put a knot in all our undies if any of us were seriously injured in a crash, so it’s worth taking a second to think it over.
