If we want to play non-check then we could host another competition that doesn’t have anything to do with Erewhon.
Why does Erewhon need to change to allow for non-check hockey?
Answer it doesn’t, its be going for the best part of 70 years now, with not to many amendments to the rules…
Too be honest guys, New Zealand needs good checking hockey, and we need to introduce it younger, if we want to improve from our current situation in international hockey, its all well and good having NZIHL, but its at the grassroots we need to introduce it, so people know how to skate with their head up ,and take a good check when they are younger
Its a checking competition on an outdoor rink…
So you don’t want a couple of grades, you want the best teams…
You don’t want checking, non-checking cos its a checking competition.I guess another arguement is the hosting rights are meant to be shared between the clubs, so where would thye host an outdoor tournament in Canterbury, I know there are those frozen lakes abut are then any outdoor rinks.
Whats the deal with tekapo is it in otago or Canterbury?

Phil is pretty open to ideas, so if he thought there wasn’t good time to play them I for one believe him, isn’t August 20th near nationals, everyone is going to be quites busy getting that organised, and powerskating is probably going to be distrupted enough with thatBout Erewhon Well the story I heard was that CIHA were originally allowed to play in the Erewhon cup, but a team from up there won it one year and then it was lost for 30 years…..
So they got booted out…
I also heard through the grapevine, people are keen on starting a south island league….
How bout a virtual super 14 esqe game
i.e each game you pick winner and margin, say
normal time tie, win by 1 goal, 2 goals, or 3+and have points allocated for winner, then more points for margin, and double points for standard time draw.
Then the piece de resistance bounus points based on guessing how many times Matthews falls over when lining/reffing game
Whens the rest of the game going up, I hope someone got a good action shot of me opening and closing the gate like a legend

Dwayne or someone else because I don’t know if I would trust what dwayne told you….I am with Ryan H what sort of legal action could he possibly take, I don’t know any details of the case, but surely if you are banned from a sport then you are banned what options are open to you?

Well, just cos I know you Kyle I could get you front row tickets and circumvent the queue, for a discount price too, and I could personalise the autograph for you…….
I not trying to make you not play, but I would seek clarification on the rule about all players must be members of their club. I think that means you have to be a member of the club you are playing for… not just a member of some random club, not sure reason I was posting was so someone could clarify, cos the executive seem to get real picky about rules in erewhon, like last year when queenstown dressed three different goalies in one tournament or something, they got scolded big time…….
I seem to recall last year we had to register a whole lot of guys so they could play erewhon…
