ditto bout seating capacity….. but then again NHL always looking to grow the game never know they may play exhibition out here it wold be the best place for them to play in southern hemisphere…. surely it would have most capacity of any rink in the south?

Just to clarify I know the difference between the words temporary and permanent… What I don’t know is which stands in the plan are permanent and which are temporary…..

Um Stampede = Texans  (eye changed, colour change)
Thats the only one i know Ryan knows the rest I don’t think any of the nzihl logos are completly original, i am sure if you searched around you would find the others wick told me one day at the gym but i just zoned out I don’t care what are on people’s chests….(Read into that what you will)….. just so long as i get to play some hockey…

I don’t agree with this policy I don’t see why we can’t come up with our own logo… but apparently thats the way things are done….. Ryan initially thought we had to change it but then gunther said it was kosh…. so I guess he checked it out with stockton… or his lawyers…. apperently you don’t have to change a lot to get around copyright… some percentage or something….. someone like laing or other legal type could probably tell you

    I don’t anything about anything …..

But seeing as you are going to the trouble of putting seating in… why only temporary?… whats the difference in cost between permanent and temporary seating? certainly if the event is a success we will host it again and having a 3500 seat arena would certainly not hurt our chances at hosting other international events…

for the bit of the curling rink can you not put the curlers in a wee rectangular box and build seats on top of them.. I mean they don’t exactly need masses of space above their headsto curl… i tried to pick up one of those rocks once fricking heavy… anyway also you could insulate the box and the low ceiling would make it cheaper to cool maybe…. again i know nothing about anything just throwing this out there…

Or could you do some sort of foldaway bleachers that could just be stretched across the curling rink when needed….

P.S Did i mention i know nothing. i don’t even know what you are talking about when you say permanent and temporary seats which are which?

Yeah it is the wrong time of year for team Canada and team USA to come

But what about other pacific rim teams that wish to get some hockey underway… in preparation… i.e Japan, the Koreas etc…

I like the idea of a Bledisoe cup style arrangement with Australia gives NZ international hockey between world champs… and as it stands right now against someone in our division….

Yeah and why do they want to set up NZIHF headquarters in a rink that hasn’t been built yet… and may not be built…

why don’t they start something in an existing rink?

One would hope the Ice Blacks are a better team than any NZIHL team…..having good imports don’t make a good team… i.e Red Devils as soon as Kaszla couldn’t play they got munched in the final…. of course they are all NZIHL players were else would they come from… you would hope however they were the best NZIHL players all on the same team…

And that team that played on Saturday wasn’t the Thunder… it was a bunch of guys who got thrown together….

I think if in Canada you grabbed a bunch of guys who could play hockey and threw them together… you would hope Team Canada would eat them alive….. I know Ice Blacks don’t equal team Canada.. .but presumably the guys you could pick to play them would be comparably below the national equivalent….

I was expecting something more scathing….

I don’t think that was too unpopular opinion…. I mean we know that we were thrown together at the last minute….we had two systems that were shown too us six minutes before the game we hadn’t run… i think when we stuck to them ice blacks found it hard to be at their peak….they just had more speed than us….
The fact that we could disrupt the ice blacks in the first period was testament to our passion….
I mean sure they looked disorganized… but that is because we got in their way … they had just been training together they should have done better..

As far as not taking shots…well what can I say impeccable positioning in the first period by me hahah…… I just lost concentration in the second and third periods… drifted too deep and lost my angles, given that I have just come off knee injury.. .and that is the fourth time I have used those pads I didn’t feel too bad… there were however three shots that if I had kept my stick on the ice i should have stopped…..
In the third period also most of the goals were scored when the ice blacks were allowed to walk around the net…

But sure I will take your opinion on my goal tending…. I won’t pay you though so we will call it amateur eh?

    Why would you say that?
Now we will all speculate on your opinion of the game will it be unpopular with us, will it be unpopular with Ice Blacks?

How bout you just hit us with your opinion? We can take it……

Besides I would be interested in a different view…generate a bit of discussion….

It was awesome game to play.. even though I got lit up a few times…. I blame having only played in my pads three times….

Lets keep things in perspective…. that is the national team… we were a bunch of games shoved together at the last minute…with our strategies devised five minutes before the game… we had no pucks for the first four minutes of our ten minute warm-up..

and we only lost 10 -0 …. The Ice Blacks have beaten some national teams by more than that….

    Well done team

Invitational squad has pretty much been set although not sure how they will balance imports (this refers to out of Dunediners as opposed to foreigners)  versus guys who are here already…. not sure whose organising it… maybe Jackie or Steve or James who would know in this crazy club we call Dunedin…Bearing in mind this is a Dunedin Invitational squad NOT and I will repeat for good effect NOT a Dunedin Thunder team…so it pretty much is Dunedin registered players plus a few guys invited from various parts ofthe country…

As far as goaltending goes… the rumour is Ice Blacks goalie is playing for Invitational squad to make sure they have appropriate number of shots….They haven’t decided what they will do at their end yet either their other goalie will play or I will play to stop their goalie dying of boredom.. seeing as they will need him in Australia…we also have a Junior B goalie from Canada here who will be present in case I get killed

I really don’t know what I am on about I should be sleeping… Maybe someone can confirm or deny any rumors I just started….

Vince I am not sure on your immigration status… but if you are planning on playing as an import.. then definately talk to steve jackson… he is in charge of that side of things…

Even if you are not playing as an import steve jackson is interim coach of wider training squad until real coach gets here and selects her team…so probably your best bet for information…. The trainings on tuesday night at 7.30 are where you go if you want to practise with intent of trailling for thunder… these will not however be the times once season gets under way (assuming you (or anyone of us) makes  the squad) as it is my understanding that dihl starts then… you assumption that someone else knows more than you may be somewhat flawed as pretty much all anyone knows is somewhere on this site.. waiting for our coach…

As far as coaching goes I can’t really help you… just keep trying Larry as he is the amateur coaching coordinator…. as far as I know there is probably a team out there somewhere for you… off the top of my head I think only the midgets have a coach… correct me if I am wrong anyone? although I know all trainings start from this week or next… depending on grade..whether that means they have coaches or not is another matter…
Pay little attention to my babbling ask Larry..

Hope this somewhat disjointed reply sheds a little light on the matter
